The New York Giants will have some cap maneuvering to do this offseason, considering they are currently working with next to nothing, according to Over the Cap.

The Giants are going to need to spend some money if they hope to compete in their first year under John Harbaugh, and luckily, there are a few moves they can make to free up some cap space.

As it currently stands, the Giants are just below the salary cap, but they can free up almost $24 million in cap space by parting ways with linebacker Bobby Okereke, kicker Graham Gano, running back Devin Singletary, and offensive lineman James Hudson.

They may need that money if they hope to re-sign one of their top performers of the 2025 season, and one of Jaxson Dart’s favorite weapons.

Giants Likely to Re-Sign Wan’Dale Robinson

With wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson set to hit the unrestricted free agent market, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan says that the New York Giants are likely to retain their leading receiver.

“He led the Giants in catches (94) and yards (1,014) with fellow wideout Malik Nabers sidelined. He proved he can play inside and out. Robinson had a great contract year, leading all wide receivers out of the slot with 622 yards and 292 yards after the catch.”

“It will all undoubtedly earn Robinson a significant payday. A return seems likely considering he has always been a favorite of GM Joe Schoen and the Giants need to add playmakers, not let the ones they drafted and developed walk,” wrote Raanan.

Without Malik Nabers on the field, Robinson was the Giants’ top receiver throughout the 2025 season, racking up career highs in catches and receiving yards.

They should hope to maintain the chemistry that Dart built up with the slot wide receiver and bring him back on a long-term extension.

Spotrac projects that Robinson could be in line to earn a four-year, $70.5 million deal that shakes out to around $17.6 million AAV.

That may sound rich, but it would only make Robinson the 28th-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL, and it is a contract that the Giants should absolutely give to homegrown talent.

Will Wan’Dale Robinson Want to Return to the Giants?

Although the New York Giants seemingly prefer to hang onto Robinson, the fact remains that it takes two to tango.

New York could’ve offered him a contract any time over the last two seasons and chose not to. It’s fair to wonder if Robinson would rather see his value on the open market rather than opt to sign an extension before free agency.

Back in November, the Giants wideout told The Trentonian’s Greg Johnson that his plan was to see what free agency has in store for him.

“I think we’ll probably just stick it out and just go to free agency and just kind of go from there. Obviously I can’t predict the future. We’ll see what happens from there, but I think right now it’s just gonna be a free agency thing,” Robinson told Johnson.

Of course, New York could bypass contract talks altogether and slap the franchise tag on their top receiver, but that price may be too steep for the Giants’ front office.

Over the Cap projects the wide receiver franchise tag to come in around $28 million this offseason, a one-year salary that New York is likely not willing to pay for Robinson’s services.

We’ll have to wait and see what the new league year brings for the future of Robinson in New York.
