The New York Giants have set their roster ahead of the 2026 campaign, meaning all eyes are on their Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. There were a lot of notable storylines that emerged as a result of the Giants‘ initial 53-man roster, but easily the biggest of the bunch involved wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. making the team.

Beckham managed to stand out in a crowded wide receiver room and earn a spot on New York’s roster after not playing at all in the 2025 campaign. And now that he is officially back with his longtime team, the Giants made an announcement regarding Beckham’s jersey number that will surely catch fans’ attention.

Giants Give Odell Beckham Jr. His Old No. 13 Jersey

After being selected by the Giants with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Beckham quickly established himself as one of the most dynamic offensive playmakers in the league. Beckham began his career by rattling off three straight Pro Bowl selections, while also earning a pair of All-Pro Second Team honors and the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.

Over time, Beckham’s relationship with New York deteriorated, which led to him getting traded to the Cleveland Browns ahead of the 2019 campaign. Since then, Beckham has bounced around the league, but injuries have largely prevented him from replicating the sort of success he enjoyed early in his career with the Giants.

Beckham spent the entire 2025 campaign out of football, as he set his sights on a comeback attempt in 2026, a goal he has now accomplished. Initially, Beckham was given the No. 3 jersey by New York, as his old No. 13 jersey belonged to Jalin Hyatt. After Hyatt was released, that opened the No. 13 jersey up for Beckham, and the Giants announced that he will be returning to his roots in more than one way this upcoming season.

“OBJ back in 13,” the Giants wrote in a post on X alongside a video of Beckham running out onto the field while jersey number changes from No. 3 to No. 13.

Beckham’s comeback story throughout training camp has been great for the team’s fans, but now he needs to prove why he was kept around. At this point in his career, Beckham isn’t the No. 1 wide receiver he once was, but if he can emerge as a consistent secondary target for Jaxson Dart in the air, the Giants will be thrilled.

Right now, Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Darnell Mooney are leading the way at the wide receiver position, with rookie Malachi Fields and Beckham factoring in as depth options at this spot. Beckham may not be racking up gaudy numbers anymore, but you can bet fans will be thrilled to see him take the field in his No. 13 jersey once Week 1 rolls around.
