The New York Giants, like every other team in the NFL, are beginning to figure out what their initial 53-man roster is going to look like for the upcoming 2026 season. All throughout training camp, fans have been keeping close tabs on the wide receiver room, which is quite crowded. Among the players fighting for a roster spot is popular veteran Odell Beckham Jr.
After not suiting up at all in 2025, Beckham reunited with New York in free agency this offseason, but with so many options at its disposal, the team isn’t necessarily guaranteed to hold on to the former All-Pro pass catcher. With Beckham seemingly on the roster bubble, he sent a pointed message on social media regarding all the chatter surrounding him.
Odell Beckham Jr. Fires Back at Giants Rumors
After being selected with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Giants, Beckham took the league by storm. He rattled off three straight Pro Bowl selections to begin his career, but his relationship with the team eventually soured, which led to him getting traded to the Cleveland Browns ahead of the 2019 campaign.
Fast forward to 2026, and Beckham is attempting to author a comeback story in the NFL with his old team. The last time we saw Beckham in 2024 with the Miami Dolphins, he was rather ineffective, as he caught just nine passes for 55 yards in nine games of action. With a plethora of options at its disposal, New York is going to have some tough decisions to make at the wide receiver position.
We’ve already seen JuJu Smith-Schuster get released by the front office, and more guys will be following him out the exit door in the near future. Whether or not Beckham will be a part of that crew is unknown, but after a clip of him torching Dolphins’ cornerback Ahmari Harvey during the two teams’ recent joint practice gained traction on social media, the Giants legend issued a strong message on social media.
“Just keep working. Noise is the same as it’s always been!😤,” Beckham said in response to the aforementioned video of himself in a post on X.

Seeing Beckham stick around with the Giants would be quite the story, and while he isn’t the same player he was at the beginning of his career, he has proven during training camp that he still has some gas left in the tank. The main issue here is that New York has too many good wide receivers at its disposal, which could make Beckham the odd man out.
Right now, Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Calvin Austin III, Darnell Mooney, and rookie Malachi Fields are all locks, which means there could only be one spot left up for grabs, which Beckham is fighting for alongside guys like Isaiah Hodgins and Braxton Berrios. Beckham still has some work to do, but if he can keep putting together dominant reps like the one in the clip above, it will be tough for the Giants to move on from him before Week 1.
