The Philadelphia Eagles weren’t able to repeat as Super Bowl champions this season, as they crashed out of the playoffs in the wild-card round after losing to an injury-plagued San Francisco 49ers squad. Changes are going to be made this offseason, and some of the work has already begun for the team.
Shortly after the Eagles’ season-ending loss, head coach Nick Sirianni revealed that Kevin Patullo would not be returning as his offensive coordinator in 2026. That led to him starting the search for Patullo’s replacement, and while Philly has interviewed a slew of candidates, nobody has been hired yet. Rumors have swirled suggesting that nobody is interested in the job, but one NFL insider recently stepped forward and put that claim to rest.
What’s Going on with Eagles’ Offensive Coordinator Search?
In 2024, the Eagles rode a dominant offense all the way to a championship. Despite returning virtually the exact same group in 2025, the unit never found its footing under Patullo’s lead. Reports of internal tension surrounded the team throughout the year, making it feel very similar to the collapse Philadelphia endured in 2023.
That has made the subject of the Eagles’ offensive coordinator opening a bit of a question mark around the league. While the team is obviously very talented, the dysfunction that seems to be plaguing the team could be making candidates wary of accepting the job. Considering how long it is taking the team to find a replacement for Patullo, that line of thought would make sense.
And yet, Philly could simply be taking its time in an effort to make sure it nails this hire. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, that appears to be precisely what is happening, as he also noted how the Eagles losing a pair of offensive coordinators, Shane Steichen and Kellen Moore, to head coach openings in previous years has put the team in a tougher spot than normal.
“One thing on the Eagles OC job: the idea that it’s not appealing couldn’t be further from the truth, based on what I’ve gathered,” Schultz said. “The talent on the roster is legit. The hunger from the front office to keep improving the roster is legit. And they’ve had two OCs in the last few years go on to become HCs (Shane Steichen, Kellen Moore). If you have success, you’re going to be a HC candidate. It’s as simple as that. The narrative some are pushing just isn’t the case.”
Who Should the Eagles Hire as Their New Offensive Coordinator?

Initial reports indicated that former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was Philadelphia’s top target for its offensive coordinator vacancy, but he ended up taking the Los Angeles Chargers‘ offensive coordinator job instead. Since then, a true frontrunner has failed to emerge for the Eagles.
The team is still sorting through candidates, and it looks as if former Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard could be emerging as a top candidate, as he will have a second interview with Philly for the job on Wednesday. And while a decision may not necessarily be imminent, that’s by design, as there is quite a bit of interest in this gig, despite rumors that may suggest otherwise.
