If you were ever curious how one of the more intimidating physical specimens anyone has ever seen might fare in a fight against a half-dozen other professional athletes, we got an answer when the Philadelphia Eagles played the Washington Commanders in Week 16.

The answer: Not too bad!

Eagles offensive lineman Tyler Steen finally got the answer as to what his punishment would be following a wild brawl with 4:26 remaining in thehe fourth quarter of a 29-20 win.

The NFL’s GameDay Accountability committee levied 2 separate fines against Steen totaling $16,870, although he avoided a suspension.

“Tyler Steen has been fined $8,435 for striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing and $8,435 for (throwing punch),” The Eagles Times wrote on X.

Four Commanders were fined for their roles in the fight with defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw ($20,280), safety Will Harris ($11,593), safety Quan Martin ($11,572) and cornerback Mike Sainristil ($9,725) all feeling the pinch.

Steen was ejected from the game, as were Kinlaw and Martin, and the fight came after the Eagles converted what seemed like an unnecessary 2-point conversion.

Philadelphia Fans Rally Around Steen

If you had a guess as to how Eagles fans might react to one of their own getting in a pit brawl and holding their own — on their own — against that many players from one of their most hated rivals, it probably wouldn’t be too hard to figure out how they feel.

In short, they loved it.

“Tyler Steen got jumped by nearly 8 players,” Eagles reporter James Simone wrote on X. “Build him a statue.”

“Tyler Steen decided to fight the entire Commanders defense by himself,” Barstool Philly wrote on X on Saturday, December 20. “EAGLES LEGEND.”

The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles clinched the NFC East Division title with the win. It also officially eliminated the Dallas Cowboys from playoff contention.

Philadelphia is 10-5 overall with 2 games remaining — at the Buffalo Bills in Week 17 and home against the Commanders for the Week 18 regular season finale.

“Now that Tyler Steen has avoided a suspension… Hang it in the Louvre!” The Philly Special’s Anthony DiBona wrote on X accompanied with a picture of Steen fighting against the Commanders.

“Tyler Steen, you just earned a TON of respect in this city!” Eagles fan Coco Eagles 88 wrote on X. “That’s Jason Peters (expletive) right there!!!!”

Many Eagles fans drew comparisons between Steen and one of the most famous moments in television history.

In Season 6, Episode 9 of HBO’s Game of Thrones. In the episode, titled Battle of the Bastards, hero Jon Snow seems to face an entire charging force of an opposing army during battle, drawing his famous sword, Longclaw, in an open battlefield.

“Tyler Steen was Jon Snow in this moment!!!” Eagles fan Trillaaaadelphia wrote on X.

Steen Has Started 15/15 Games in 2025

Steen, a 2023 third round pick (No. 65 overall), has become a valuable piece of Philadelphia’s offensive line in 2025, starting 15 out of 15 games as injuries have sidelined stars like Cam JurgensLandon Dickerson and Lane Johnson at different times.

Down the stretch Steen, who started 3 games over his first 2 seasons, has also proven to be one of the NFL’s best at his position. According to Pro Football Focus, Steen’s 71.8 overall grade puts him 17th among 78 eligible players at his position.

Steen is in the third year of his 4-year, $5.75 million rookie contract.
