Head coach Mike Macdonald and the Seattle Seahawks re-signed safety Jerrick Reed II to the practice squad as part of a few different moves before Week 4.

The Seattle Seahawks worked to finalize their roster for an important Week 4 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. As part of multiple moves Wednesday, the Seahawks brought back former sixth-round safety Jerrick Reed II on their practice squad.

Reed returned to the Seahawks a day after the team waived him. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein listed the safety’s “high football IQ” as his top strength ahead of his draft day two years ago.

Safety D’Anthony Bell will replace Reed on the team’s active roster. The Seahawks signed Bell from their practice squad Wednesday. The team also placed fullback Robbie Ouzts on injured reserve. Ouzts suffered an ankle injury in Week 3 versus the New Orleans Saints.

The Seahawks will visit the Cardinals for Thursday Night Football in Week 4. Seattle will enter the matchup with a 2-1 record, but the team has already lost a division matchup this season.

Seahawks Sign Safety D’Anthony Bell

Seattle made similar secondary moves before the Saints matchup last week. The Seahawks added Reed to the active roster for last Sunday’s showdown.

Bell also dressed for that contest as a practice squad elevation.

This week, Bell will provide depth in the Seattle secondary as a member of the active roster. In two games for the Seahawks this season, Bell has played 27 defensive snaps and 34 snaps on special teams.

The 28-year-old started for Seattle in both Weeks 2 and 3. He has posted three combined tackles, including one tackle for loss.

Bell signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns in 2022. Over three years with the Browns, he registered 61 combined tackles, including five tackles for loss, and two quarterback hits in 50 games. He also had four pass defenses and two interceptions.

Bell started seven games for the Browns. He started a career high four contests in 2023.

Jerrick Reed II Returns to Seattle

Seattle’s secondary depth will look a little different against the Cardinals than it did in Week 3. But Reed is back with the team on the practice squad.

The Seahawks drafted Reed at No. 198 overall in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He appeared in 10 games as a rookie, posting 11 combined tackles.

In his Seahawks 2025 debut against the Saints, he had two combined tackles.

2025 second-round safety Nick Emmanwori is unlikely to play Thursday versus the Cardinals. Officially, the Seahawks have Emmanwori listed as doubtful on their injury report.

But starting safety Julian Love doesn’t have an injury designation despite being limited in practice. In all likelihood, that gave the Seahawks enough confidence to not dress both Reed and Bell for Week 4.

With Ouzts now on injured reserve, the Seahawks will turn to Brady Russell for fullback duties. Seattle has Russell listed as a fullback on its official roster. However, Russell has played just seven offensive snaps and 72 snaps on special teams this season.

In three games, Russell has posted five combined tackles, including four solos.

The Seahawks will visit the Cardinals in what will be their first road NFC West matchup this season. Seattle lost its first division game of the campaign to the San Francisco 49ers during Week 1.

In 2024, the Seahawks won both matchups in the rivalry. At Arizona, the Seahawks defeated the Cardinals 30-18 last season.
