Wood underwent a successful arthroscopic surgical procedure on his left knee Monday, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports. The forward will be re-evaluated in eight weeks, meaning he will miss the start of the 2024-25 season. This is a tough blow for Wood, as it will set him back with his offseason training. Wood exercised his $3.04 million player option in May and was already facing an uphill battle for playing time in the Lakers' crowded frontcourt, and this certainly won't help.

Latest Lakers News
Christian Wood : Undergoes knee procedure
Wood underwent a successful arthroscopic surgical procedure on his left knee Monday, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports. The forward will be re-evaluated in eight weeks, meaning he will miss the start of the 2024-25 season. This is a tough blow for Wood, as it will set him back with his offseason training. Wood exercised his $3.04 million player option in May and was already facing an uphill battle for playing time in the Lakers' crowded frontcourt, and this certainly won't help.
Alex Fudge : Signs with Lakers
Fudge signed a contract with the Lakers on Thursday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. It's unclear if Fudge signed a two-way deal with the Lakers, though that could very well be the case as he spent the 2023-24 campaign on such a deal, appearing in six NBA contests for the Lakers and Mavericks while averaging 2.5 points in 6.7 minutes per game. Even though Fudge will look to battle for a roster spot in training camp, he's likely to spend most of the upcoming campaign in the G League.
Vincent Valerio-Bodon : Inks deal with Lakers
Valerio-Bodon agreed to a contract with the Lakers on Wednesday, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports. Specifics of the deal weren't released, but it's likely just a partially guaranteed contract that will allow Valerio-Bodon to participate in training camp. The 23-year-old spent the 2023-24 season with the South Bay Lakers of the G League.
Jordan Goodwin : Signs deal with Los Angeles
Goodwin and the Lakers agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal Tuesday, Chris Haynes of Turner Sports reports. Goodwin was one of the top free agents available and will now have the chance to compete for a roster spot in Los Angeles during training camp. In 121 career NBA appearances, Goodwin holds regular-season averages of 6.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
LeBron James : Game-high 10 assists for gold
James tallied 14 points (6-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 10 assists, six rebounds, two steals and one block across 32 minutes in Saturday's 98-87 win over France in the gold medal game of the Paris Olympics. James racked up a game-high 10 assists while leading Team USA past France for gold. The squad survived a late comeback from France and Victor Wembanyama, and James did it all in the contest. The 39-year-old served as one of Team USA's top options throughout the Olympics, and the superstar averaged 14.2 points, 8.5 assists, 6.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals across 24.3 minutes per game in six Olympic matchups.
LeBron James : Helps push USA to gold medal game
James accumulated 16 points (6-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 12 rebounds, 10 assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Thursday's 95-91 semifinal victory over Serbia. James' triple-double was massive in helping Team USA pull off a comeback win from 17 points down. Stephen Curry stole the show with 36 points, however, and Joel Embiid was the only other player with double-digit points (19). The team is set to face France for the gold medal game.
LeBron James : Good to go in semifinals
James (face) will start Thursday's semifinal matchup against Serbia. As expected, James won't let a few stitches stop him from playing against Nikola Jokic and Serbia in the Olympic semifinal matchup. The winner of Thursday's game plays France in hopes of winning a gold medal.
Bronny James : Expected to mostly play in G League
James is expected to spend most of his rookie season in the G League, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. James was slow to start Summer League but finished strong. Ultimately, this news isn't unexpected. Many second-round picks begin their careers primarily in the G League, and James still needs polish to his game
