2 Girls Stabbed Walking Home From School In Tennessee

Two girls have been stabbed while walking home from school in Memphis, Tennessee around 2:30 this afternoon. Three people are currently in police custody in connection to the attack and police are searching for the weapon in the home of the one adult currently in custody.

This story is currently breaking. Here is what we know so far…


1. Shelby County Sheriff Is On The Scene Of The Stabbing

Two unnamed female high school students were stabbed while walking home from school this afternoon. Two other female teens and a female adult are in police custody in connection to the stabbing, according to Fox Memphis. It is alleged that the two other teens attacked the victims around 2:30 p.m. after leaving school. The adult female, identified as a mother of one of the girls, is alleged to have joined in. The three attackers are being questioned by the felony response unit in Downtown Memphis. The mother’s home is currently being searched by police as they look for the weapon.

“One of the parents of the students was driving by and I think she witnesses this,” said Sgt. Lamert Ross of Memphis Police. “She got involved in it. At that point a knife somehow got into it. We are not exactly sure who had the knife but two of the girls were injured.”


2. The Girls Attend Raleigh-Egypt High School.

The two girls attend Raleigh-Egypt High School. The school’s last violent incident occurred in 2011, where a football game was cancelled after gunshots were fired nearby.


3. They Were Attacked Around The 3900 Block Of Tessland Road

They were attacked off-campus, around the 3900 block of Tessland Road around 2:30 p.m.


4. One Victim Sent To Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.

One victim was taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Earlier this month, two girls, aged six and 23 months, died at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital after being stabbed by their mother, Jamina Briggs, reports WMCTV.

One of today’s victims is being treated at the same hospital.


5. The Second Victim Was Treated On Scene

The second unnamed female victim was treated on scene by authorities and released soon after.
