Here’s what you need to know:
1. Joseph Was No Longer at Student at NYTI
She had been lying about going to school. According to Joseph’s parents, their daughter had told them that she was attending nursing classes at the New York Institute of Technology. The school have since come forward to say that that Joseph had not been attending classes since May 2013. Her father has also said that he gave his daughter his credit card to pay for classes, which he thought she did, and he was able to produce a statement proving he’d paid for classes over the last semester.
Joseph’s cousin, Tessa James, told The Daily News, “We were in complete shock. She never showed a sign that she wasn’t going to school. That’s why this is such a mystery. Her dad is one of the stricter ones in the damily. But definitely not enough for this to happen.”
According to Pix 11, Joseph’s father has a $6,072 charge on his American Express card for the fall semester.
2. Joseph Was Last Seen at the Gym
According to the “Find Jasmine Joseph” Facebook page, she was last scne at Lifetime Fitness on Robbins Lane, in Syosset, New York. She was reported to have been wearing a green sweater with black jeans and black and white sneakers.
Her father, Sony Joseph, told The Syosset-Jericho Tribune, “She has not been heard from since. This is very confusing to our family as this is very out of character for Jasmine.” On March 11, police found Joseph’s Nissan Altima in Syosset plaza just off the Jericho turnpike in Long Island. Her car keys were in the car.
3. Her College Have Said They Are ‘Unable to Provide Current Information’
Despite not being a member of the student body anymore, NYIT released a statement:
The NYIT Old Westbury community has been in contact with and is cooperating with the family of a former student, whom the family has reported as missing. Many students and staff members are actively helping to spread the word and share photos, in the hopes that the public will recognize this young woman and contact her family or the authorities.
The young woman has not been a student enrolled at NYIT since May 2013; as such, we are unable to provide any current information. Our thoughts are with her loved ones.
Joseph’s mother, Lovely, is a practicing nurse but was keen to stress to The Daily News that she never pressured her daughter into following her vocation. She added that Joseph used to share her report card and appeared to be doing well in school.
