Aspiring 20-year-old model Kaylyn Pryor was shot and killed Monday night in Chicago. Here’s what you need to know about the aspiring young model:
1. Kaylyn Prior Had Just Won the Prominent ‘Make Me A Model’ Contest
In late September, Kaylyn Pryor won the Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas sixth annual “Mario, Make Me a Model” competition. According to its website, the competition has launched the careers of young talent who have worked with virtually every Chicago-based periodical as well as New Beauty magazine, Neiman Marcus, Home Shopping Network, Nordstrom, Glossed & Found and Def Jam Records among others.
2. Pryor Was Shot Along With a 15-Year-Old Boy Who Was Critically Wounded
Pryor was standing outside with the boy in the 7300 block of South May in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago at about 6:20 p.m. when someone in a passing vehicle shot them, police said.
Police said the shooting was possibly gang related, but that Pryor was not the intended target of the shooters. It’s not clear whether or not the teenager had any gang affiliation.
3. Kaylyn Pryor Was Pronounced Dead Just Moments After She Was Shot
Pryor was shot in the armpit by the assailants and was pronounced dead at 7:01 p.m, just over 40 minutes after the reporting of the shooting.
4. Kaylyn Pryor Had Just Left Her Grandmother’s House and Was Heading Home
Kaylyn Pryor was shot and killed as she waited to catch a bus home to Evanston after leaving her grandmother’s Englewood home on Chicago’s South Side.
5. Kaylyn Prior Used to Work at a Chicago Bears ProShop at Soldier Field
Before we went to the “Make Me A Model Contest,” Pryor worked at a Chicago Bears ProShop at Soldier Field. When she heard about Mario Tricoci’s annual modeling competition, she decided to go to the casting call on a whim and won the event.
