34-year-old Carrie Barnette was among the 59 people killed in the Las Vegas mass shooting late Sunday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino during the Route 91 Harvest country music festival. Loved ones described Barnette, of Southern California, as someone with a huge heart and beautiful soul. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, according to friends.
Barnette was an employee of Disneyland in Anaheim where she worked as a cast member at the Pacific Wharf Cafe in Disney California Adventure. Disney CEO Robert Iger tweeted: “A senseless, horrific, act, and a terrible loss for so many. We mourn a wonderful member of the Disney family: Carrie Barnette. Tragic.”
“I knew she was there, we have been up all night awaiting news. We knew she had been shot. This morning a friend with her confirmed she is gone,” Barnette’s cousin Janice Chambers told The Arizona Republic.
Chamber said Barnette’s mother told her that her body had not yet been recovered.
“She said there are bodies stacked everywhere. Not any real details as to more, other than she was up front close to stage. She was shot to the left side of her chest and a friend with her was there at her side when she passed,” she added.
Love poured out on the stunning blonde’s Facebook page, and some posted to Barnette’s profile with heartbreaking concern after news of the massacre erupted.
“Hope you girls are ok!,” Tina Redweik posted.

Barnette attended the concert with a friend named Amanda, whom is safe, Kyle Perish told Heavy.
“Carrie, just checking to see if you got out safe!,” Tammy Humphrey wrote. “I saw Jenn Gibson post she was hiding in a bathroom a few hours ago. Let us know you are ok, please!”
After the tragic news broke that Barnette did not make it, Humphrey followed up with a tear-jerking post. “Heaven just gained another angel,” she stated. “RIP sweet Carrie. You were a beautiful girl with one of the biggest hearts. I bet you’re hugging your grandparents right now ♡♡♡♡.”
Barnette’s brother-in-law posted photos showing the woman as a doting and loving aunt:
“RIP Carrie Barnette,” Kathryn Marie Anderson posted. “You’re now in heaven dancing, singing, and kickin back with the angels. You will be missed.”
You were a beautiful soul that would give so much in this world,” Destiny Calderon posted. “I treasure all the memories we had. You will be missed. When I see hummingbirds I will think of you. Heaven has gained an angel.”
