Arnav Sarkar is a sportswriter and reporter covering college football, the New York Giants, and the Philadelphia Eagles for Heavy Sports. He is also a main contributor to Rutgers' SBNation website, On The Banks, covering everything Scarlet Knights sports with a main focus on football and basketball analysis.
Arnav began sportswriting in college as an intern at Sports Radio America, where he covered a wide variety of topics, including all major professional sports leagues and college football from a Rutgers, Big Ten, and national perspective. Before starting at Heavy, he contributed as a writer for Empire Sports Media, with a primary focus on the New York Giants.
In addition to sportswriting, Arnav cohosts a weekly podcast for On The Banks called The Bells Must Ring, in addition to his own podcast, SportsVibe, which covers all major sports year-round. His popular subseries, Just Vibing, features guests from around the sports media industry and dives deep into their career paths and current experiences.
Education
Arnav Sarkar earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University with a major in human resource management and a minor in business administration.
He became involved with Rutgers Athletics through multiple student organizations, including playing synthesizer for the Marching Scarlet Knights and being an active member of WRSU's sports department (Rutgers student radio), where he served as a talk show host, producer, and play-by-play/color broadcaster.
He later served as the Head of Blog for the Rutgers Sports Business Association and began contributing at On The Banks in his final semester, which led him towards pursuing sports writing opportunities as a major part of his career focus.
