Bar Refaeli is officially off the market. The 30-year-old supermodel has married Israeli businessman Adi Ezra, 40, in a September 24 ceremony at the Carmel Forest Spa Resort in Haifa, Israel.
In 2012, the couple were introduced to each other through mutual friends. That meeting came two years after Refaeli split up from her boyfriend of five years, a guy named Leonardo DiCaprio.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. She Had Wanted the Airspace Above Her Wedding Closed, but That Request Was Denied by Israeli Security Forces
Speaking to People, a rep for Refaeli confirmed the joyous news back in March that the couple were engaged, saying, “We are pleased to announce the supermodel Bar Refaeli is engaged to her boyfriend Adi Ezra.” The only comment from Refaeli was an Instagram post of her and Ezra kissing with the word “Love” as a caption.
On September 23, she posted an Instagram photo of herself, scantily clad, with the the message, “This time tomorrow … I’ll be dancing in white.” The Guardian had earlier reported that there had been a security issue with the wedding as Refaeli wanted the airspace around the wedding closed, a request that was denied by Israeli security forces.
2. Mick Jagger Caused the Couple to Briefly Split Up in 2014
The couple had reportedly split during the summer of 2014 when Ezra was unhappy with Refaeli’s behavior at her 29th birthday party. Ynet news in Israel reported at the time that Ezra openly fought with her due to Rafeali’s suggestive dancing with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger. Ezra refused to comment on that story.
3. He Makes a Paltry $3 Million Per Year
According to his profile on Bloomberg’s website, Ezra is the Chief Business Development Officer for Neto Malinda Trading. His salary is just under $3 million per year. In 2013, Refaeli made $10 million. Ezra has been in his job since 2003. In addition, he also serves as a director for Israeli food giant Williger Ltd. He holds a BA in business administration from a college in Israel.
4. Ezra Will Inherit His Family’s Fortune
Ezra’s family business, Neto, is a food giant in Israel. The company was founded by his grandfather, Dudi Ezra. His father, Meir Ezra, still works at the company. Adi was pushed to the forefront of the business when it was relaunched in 2008, reports Haaretz. He’s appointed heir to the family’s fortune.
5. She Thinks the 10-Year Age Difference Between Them Is a Good Thing
In a 2014 interview with Israeli news site HaYom, Refaeli talked about her and Ezra’s age difference: “I have always gone out with guys who are older than me. A 10-year age difference between a man and a woman isn’t so crazy. I actually think it’s a good thing.” She also said about it, “He went out with many other girls before me, he’s seen and done many things, and that’s just a much more complete place to come from. I prefer to date someone who has experienced and done many things and met people and is now ready to choose, rather than someone who doesn’t know.”
