WATCH: Jimmy Fallon’s ‘La La Land’ Opening at the 2017 Golden Globes

Tonight is the 2017 Golden Globe Awards, with Jimmy Fallon as the host. The opening has been a long-awaited event, with several huge A-listers involved in the performance. Get the details on the opening below.

Presented in Cinemascope was shown across the screen ahead of the opening, which showed Jimmy Fallon stuck in line for the Golden Globe Awards in a limo. Nicole Kidman, then Amy Adams, Sarah Paulson, Sterling K. Brown, John Travolta, Rami Malek, the cast of Stranger Things, and several others all join Fallon in an off-key performance that is in tribute to lead nominee tonight La La Land.

After a joyful performance, the screen then cuts to Jimmy Fallon playing piano to Ryan Reynolds, who spits a lifesaver into his mouth. The camera cuts to showing Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington, and Ryan Gosling laughing at the opener. Gosling managed to wave away the camera, clearly uncomfortable with being singled out for so long.

Next, Tina Fey and Fallon’s BFF Justin Timberlake join him in a performance, with Timberlake and Fallon floating among the stars as they dance together. Finally, Fallon manages to find his way to the stage in order to welcome the audience to the 2017 Golden Globe Awards.

Fallon kicks off the show by saying that already the teleprompter is down. He jokes that the show should cut to Justin Timberlake or have him do impressions while they bring in a second teleprompter. Shortly, Fallon gets back on track with him opening monologue, recognizing La La Land and talking about advice he’s gotten from previous hosts like Chris Rock. Fallon talked about Manchester By the Sea and poked fun at celebrities turning down Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Previously, Jimmy Fallon talked to Us Weekly about what was in store for viewers with the opening performance and he said:

The opening is fun, we’ve been working on it, filming different stuff here and there for it for about three months. It’s spoofing one of the nominated movies, and we have a lot of fun cameos, we have a lot of good favorites. I don’t want to name names but Justin Timberlake … I won’t say anything, this is not to go on record but Ryan Reynolds … and don’t even ever talk about Tina Fey. No one is in this thing.
