Dogs surpassed humans in the better-companion category a long time ago. But now, dogs can contribute more to your road trip than just being an awesome friend.

In New Zealand, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), with the support of Mini Cooper, has been training dogs to drive to show people just how smart and amazing dogs are, hoping to boost adoption of abandoned dogs.

Porter, Monty and Ginny have been working for weeks, first learning to sit forward with their paws on the steering wheel. Then they learned to operate paw-activated gas pedals and brakes.
