Along with its coverage of President Obama’s speech announcing further air strikes against ISIS, Fox News repeatedly referenced remarks made on July 12, 2007 by President George W. Bush, who was warning at the time of the consequences of beginning to withdraw troops immediately.

Bush warned that withdrawing troops before commanders on the ground thought it was prudent would risk surrendering Iraq to al-Qaeda, risking mass killings and allowing extremists to turn Iraq into a safe haven, forcing American troops to have to re-enter the country. With the rise of ISIS, his comments now seem prophetic.
