USC takes on Alabama in one of the most anticipated games of college football’s opening weekend. The defending champions will face USC for the first time since 1985.
According to OddsShark, Alabama opens up as a 10.5 point favorite over USC. The point total stands at 54 points. Max Browne takes over at quarterback for the Trojans with Cody Kessler now in the NFL. Browne is a former five-star recruit but has seen limited college football action despite entering his red-shirt junior season.
Browne will have plenty of offensive weapons to help with the learning curve. Wide receiver Ju-Ju Smith-Schuster is one of the top NFL receiver prospects. Smith-Schuster is coming off 1,454 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns last season.
While Alabama has not officially named a starting quarterback, Cooper Bateman is the favorite to get the start Saturday at AT&T Stadium. Alabama has the deepest receiving core they have had in some time led by sophomore Calvin Ridley. Robert Foster returns after missing 12 games last season with an injury. Foster joins ArDarius Stewart who was a good number two receiver last season for Alabama. Transfer Gehrig Dieter is also battling for playing time.
Despite losing a number of key members of their defense to the NFL, Alabama has plenty of talent including defensive end Jonathan Allen and linebacker Tim Williams.
There will be no shortage of talent on the field Saturday night as the Trojans look to prove Vegas wrong and start the season off with an upset win.
