WWE Clash of Champions 2016: The Results & Highlights You Need to Know

Cesaro vs. Sheamus (Seventh Match in a Best of Seven Series)

WWE Clash of Champions 2016

Winner: The match is called off with no official winner.

Highlights: The match between Cesaro and Sheamus is one of the best-received of the evening so far, with impressive spots from both performers. The most shocking and memorable moment by far is when Cesaro delivers an insane suicide dive, jumping through the ropes and hitting Sheamus head first. He then lands right on his neck, and even Sheamus appeared to break character for a moment to check on Cesaro. Twitter immediately blew up with concerns over Cesaro’s health. The match continued after that, with Cesaro at one point getting the crowd hyped for a Cesaro swing only for Sheamus to break out of it. Eventually things get so heated, and Cesaro and Sheamus start hurting each other so severely, that officials must step in and break things up. They both go over the barricade before the professionals are forced to intervene. The best-of-seven ends on a massive cliffhanger with no actual winner, so presumably we’ll have to tune in to Raw tomorrow for our answer of where things go from here.

Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho

WWE Clash of Champions 2016

Winner: Kevin Owens’ best friend, Chris Jericho!

Highlights: Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn go at it in a pretty enjoyable match in which both men have the upper hand at various points as it progresses. One moment that stands out is a botched DDT that got a lot of viewers anxious, particularly after that close call with Cesaro earlier. Jericho gets a huge pop when he kicks out of a Blue Thunder Bomb from Sami Zayn, and in general the crowd is quite enthusiastic about Jericho throughout, despite the fact that he’s a heel who can’t stop calling them stupid idiots. Sami Zayn also gets in a fantastic suicide dive onto Jericho, but let’s not forget the moment when Chris Jericho throws his scarf at Sami Zayn, who looks down at it confused and then tosses it aside. Not long after that Blue Thunder Bomb, Jericho delivers a codebreaker out of almost nowhere to score the victory. He once again has proven himself to be the best in the world at what he does.

Charlotte (c) (with Dana Brooke) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley (Triple Threat Match for the WWE Women’s Championship)

WWE Clash of Champions 2016

Winner: And still the WWE RAW Women’s Champion, Charlotte!

Highlights: As the match opens, Charlotte immediately goes after Sasha Banks, who rolls out of the ring. Bayley attacks Charlotte, and Sasha starts yelling at Bayley, telling her to back off because this isn’t about her. “It’s about me too,” Bayley says. “I’m in this match!” A few minutes later, Bayley and Sasha both attack Charlotte at once, so it seems like they may form an alliance for a moment, but that doesn’t last long. Sasha delivers a corner running knee to Charlotte, doing some damage, but Bayley nearly sneaks in with a pin. Dana Brooke, to the surprise of no one, gets herself involved, throwing Bayley into the barricade and leaving Sasha and Charlotte in the ring. Charlotte specifically targets Sasha’s back. Bayley tries to get in, only for Charlotte to knock her right back out. Charlotte twists Sasha around the post, and for several minutes Charlotte absolutely dominates her. Bayley tries to get back in another time, but Charlotte immediately knocks her down. Sasha starts gaining back some momentum, though she’s unable to execute a Banks statement. While they’re focused on each other, Bayley jumps from the top rope and knocks both women to the ground. Bayley proceeds to run back and forth smashing into Sasha and Charlotte. Not long after, Sasha gets in a knee drop on Bayley and comes  quite close to pinning her, but Charlotte intervenes. Bayley and Sasha momentarily team up to go after Charlotte, but Charlotte is able to take Bayley down, and Charlotte dominates for another few minutes. She dives from the top rope and lands on both Sasha and Bayley, but she’s unable to pin either of them. Sasha goes for a Banks statement on Charlotte, but Dana Brooke stops her. Not long after, Sasha gets in another Banks statement, and Dana Brooke tries to interfere again; this time, Sasha kicks her out of the ring. Instead, Bayley breaks it up. Sasha delivers a Banks statement on Bayley, but Charlotte stops that. Charlotte kicks Sasha out of the ring, pins Bayley, and retains the title.
