WWE Clash of Champions 2016: The Results & Highlights You Need to Know

Kevin Owens (c) vs. Seth Rollins (WWE Universal Champion)

WWE Clash of Champions 2016

Winner: And still the WWE Universal Champion, Kevin Owens!

Highlights: The moment the match begins, Kevin Owens immediately flees the ring. When Seth Rollins goes after him, Owens jumps back in. They finally start brawling outside of the ring, with Owens being sent into the barricade. Rollins has the upper hand for the next few minutes, going for a cover several times but with Owens continuing to kick out. Owens counters a pedigree and gets in a DDT, almost pinning Seth Rollins. He also specifically targets the knee that Rollins injured last year. He throws Rollins into the barricade and then into the post, screaming about how this is his show. He also mocks Rollins by asking, “Is your knee hurt?” Owens continues to attack that knee over and over, saying he’s going to need surgery again. He throws Rollins out of the ring, and Rollins lands right on the bad knee. A very sarcastic Owens yells, “Is he okay? I hope he’s okay!” Rollins just barely makes it back in before the count out, being thrown back-first into the post moments later. Owens then throws Rollins into the other post after telling him, “This is my time!” Owens throws Rollins into a post for the third time, but Rollins counters, coming back and taking Owens down. They trade punches back and forth as Rollins regains some energy, eventually being able to deliver a slingblade and then a clothesline. The momentum has shifted in Rollins’ favor. Rollins kicks Ownes in the face and Owens flies out of the ring; Rollins throws Owens into the barricade twice in a row. He then clears off the Spanish announcers’ table, but by the time he goes for Owens, Owens has retreated back into the ring. Owens once again targets Rollins’ knee, getting in a cannonball as well. Owens then jumps from the top rope, but the frog splash isn’t enough to take Rollins out. Rollins’ ribs, back and knee are now all injured, and he’s limping along in pain. Outside the ring, Owens throws Rollins onto the Spanish announcers’ table, getting ready to jump onto him, but Rollins rolls out at the last second and Owens goes flying through the table on his own. A newly-invigorated Rollins jumps from the top rope onto Owens, who kicks out at two. Suddenly Chris Jericho runs out, distracting Rollins, who is then attacked by Owens. Rollins kicks out at two. Jericho is now screaming from outside of the ring until Rollins throws Owens into Jericho. Rollins delivers a pedigree, but Jericho grabs Owens’ foot and places it on the bottom rope. Apparently the referee did not see that. Rollins proceeds to chase Chris Jericho around the outside of the ring. In the ensuing madness, the referee is knocked out by Rollins. Rollins is ready to cover Owens, but there’s no one to make the count. Jericho runs in and attacks Rollins, screaming about how Owens is his best friend. Rollins gets in a suicide dive on Owens and is desperately trying to get the referee involved again. Stephanie McMahon suddenly comes out with a new referee, and Rollins runs back in ready to finish things up. But by the time the new referee gets in the ring, a distracted Rollins is attacked by Owens, who pins him and wins.
