The Atlanta Braves have been a very surprising team in Major League Baseball this season. They are 9-5, and going for the series win on Saturday against the Cleveland Guardians. The Braves and Guardians are the only two MLB teams this season who have yet to lose a series.
On Saturday, before the Guardians game, the Braves made a roster decision on Luke Williams by selecting his contract. In the corresponding move, Michael Harris II heads to the paternity list, and a couple of other roster moves transpired.
It’s a slew of roster moves, but the main one being that Michael Harris II will miss Saturday’s and likely Sunday’s game being on the paternity list, which will give Luke Williams some opportunities.

MLBTradeRumors.com’s Mark Polishuk wrote (On April 11): “The Braves announced a quartet of roster moves today, including the news that Michael Harris II has been placed on the team’s paternity list. Utilityman Luke Williams‘ contract has been selected from Triple-A Gwinnett to take Harris’ spot on the active roster, and Atlanta moved left-hander Danny Young from the 15-day IL to the 60-day injured list to create a 40-man roster spot. Right-hander Daysbel Hernandez was also reinstated from the 15-day IL and optioned to Gwinnett.”
Luke Williams is a five-year MLB veteran who has played in parts of the last three seasons with the Braves. Williams hit .129 in 31 at-bats with Atlanta last season, and the most games he’s appeared in with a big-league club in a season was 71 with the Miami Marlins in 2022. He’s seen time at all four infield positions and some left field throughout his career.

Braves Continue to Stay Hot In Early Part of 2026
It’s still early, but the Atlanta Braves have been a surprising team in MLB to start the season.
Their 9-5 record is good enough for first place in the NL East. The Marlins have also been a bit of a surprise, but the Braves’ strong pitching staff has been the biggest story surrounding the team.
With several starters on the IL, Atlanta has received very quality contributions from the likes of Bryce Elder, Grant Holmes, and Reynaldo Lopez.
