The Atlanta Braves are fresh off a series loss to the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend, and considering the Braves haven’t played their best baseball as of late, things won’t get easier as the surging Los Angeles Dodgers are coming into town for a new series this week.
Both teams will have the day off on Monday, and the Braves-Dodgers series will begin on Tuesday, which is always an exciting matchup between perennial NL contenders. Atlanta comes into the series losers of five of its last eight games, while LA has won six consecutive games.

The Braves carry a 76-55 record (42-23 at home) into this series with the Dodgers, while LA is 80-51 (40-25 on the road) this season.

- Tuesday, August 25: Tyler Glasnow (3–0, 2.72 ERA, 49 SO) vs, Bryce Elder (8–7, 3.92 ERA, 113 SO)
- Wednesday, August 26: Roki Sasaki (5–5, 4.42 ERA, 114 SO) vs. AJ Smith-Shawver (0–0, 6.23 ERA, 7 SO)
- Thursday, August 27: Yoshinobu Yamamoto (12–7, 2.61 ERA, 145 SO) vs. Chris Sale (12–9, 2.20 ERA, 166 SO)
Bryce Elder gets the series-opening start for Atlanta, and Smith-Shawver will follow him up by making just his third start of the season.
Undoubtedly, the headline of this series in terms of pitching matchups is Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. Chris Sale in the series finale, which is a duel between two starters who will likely finish in top-5 of NL CY Young voting.
Considering Atlanta is four games behind the Dodgers for the No.2 seed in the National League, you could say this is a bigger series for the Braves, but regardless of the standings, this is a great litmus test for both squads.
