
The New York Yankees are set to begin a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium at 7:05 p.m. EDT on Friday.
Ahead of Friday’s game, the Yankees revealed updates on several stars: Max Fried, Cody Bellinger and Ryan McMahon.

Via MLB.com’s Bryan Hock on X: “Max Fried will throw a side session tomorrow, setting up a potential live BP. Returning in the minimum 15 days is still in play, Aaron Boone said.”
Via The Athletic’s Brendan Kuty on X: “Boone says Bellinger is expected to play LF tonight at Scranton, could be an option as soon as Sunday for the Yankees”
Via ESPN’s Jorge Castillo on X: “Ryan McMahon said he was diagnosed Grade 2 sprain in his left thumb. He said he hopes he misses just the 10 days. Max Schuemann was called up to take his place on the roster.

The Yankees placed Fried on the 15-day injured list on Monday with a left elbow bone bruise, the same injury that kept him sidelined for over two months earlier in the year. Luckily, it appears the injury isn’t as serious this time around.
Fried has posted a 2.81 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP and 79 strikeouts in 86 1/3 innings across 15 starts this season.

The Yankees placed Bellinger on the IL with a left hamstring strain on July 26. He began a rehab assignment with Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
Bellinger represented the Yankees in this season’s All-Star game. He has slashed .259/.350/.420 with 11 home runs, 21 doubles, three triples, 10 stolen bases and 53 RBI across 102 games with New York in 2026.
Looking at New York Yankees 3B Ryan McMahon

The Yankees placed McMahon on the 10-day IL earlier today with a left thumb sprain.
McMahon has been the Yankees’ primary third baseman this year. He has also played shortstop in two games this season.
McMahon has slashed .216/.282/.367 with 10 home runs, 12 doubles and 32 RBI over 106 games this season. While those aren’t great offensive numbers, McMahon has give the Yankees great defense, recording +4 Outs Above Average in 2026.
