Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison appears to have dodged a career disaster this offseason.

On January 13, Heavy Sports first reported that Addison was arrested and charged with trespassing at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa Bay, Florida. It was potentially the last straw for the young wide receiver after he was suspended for three games in 2025 due to an alcohol-related offense and was also benched in Week 5 after missing a team meeting.

However, on January 20, a Florida state attorney dropped the misdemeanor trespassing charges against Addison, clearing his name of any wrongdoing.

Entering a pivotal offseason, Addison is eligible to have his fifth-year option exercised, which would not only pay him $17.5 million for the 2026 season but also restore $4.6 million in 2026 guarantees he lost due to his suspension.

After speculation that the Vikings could cut or trade Addison, he appears to be in the clear. The team celebrated his 24th birthday with a social media post on January 27.

Vikings WR Jordan Addison Remains Trade Bait Amid NFL Offseason

While Addison remains in good standing with his team, the Vikings wide receiver is subject to outside trade chatter.

Addison’s track record could suggest that the Vikings may want to be rid of any problems that could occur in the future, but Kevin O’Connell has remained supportive of the 2023 first-round pick.

“I love Jordan Addison. He’s a guy that I care about tremendously. He knows that every guy in that locker room has his back. He knows that I will never waver in my confidence and belief in him, but at the same time, we’ve got standards, and personal responsibility and accountability are huge if you want to talk about culture,” O’Connell said after benching Addison for the first quarter of a Week 5 win over the Cleveland Browns, which ended with a clutch Addison touchdown to clinch the game with 25 seconds remaining.

In light of Addison’s most recent run-in with the law, teams are undoubtedly checking in on the prospect of a trade. He has surfaced as a trade target for the San Francisco 49ers, according to Sports Illustrated’s Grant Cohn.

However, his production on the field is proving too valuable to part ways with, given the Vikings need a solid receiver core to help develop J.J. McCarthy. Addison is among the league’s top No. 2 wide receivers, posting 2,396 yards receiving and 22 touchdowns in three seasons.

Addison is poised for a massive payday after his rookie contract, with receivers like Tee Higgins, Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith garnering deals worth north of $25 million a year.

But that comes with the stipulation that Addison does some more growing up in the next two years.

Vikings Could Hedge Jordan Addison Trade With Jalen Nailor Re-Signing

Addison appears to be in good standing and will not be dumped for nothing.

But if the right deal surfaces, the Vikings could explore a trade involving Addison and instead re-sign 2022 sixth-round pick Jalen Nailor, who is a pending free agent.

Nailor has filled in as the No. 2 wide receiver when Justin Jefferson or Addison have missed time and has done so admirably. In the past two seasons, he’s tallied 858 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns.

Over The Cap valued Nailor’s performance last season to be worth $7.2 million, which would be more than the fourth year of Addison’s deal but cheaper in the long run.
