Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison‘s legal team made a statement on his behalf following the news of his arrest in Florida this week.
After being arrested and charged with probable trespassing at Hard Rock Casino & Hotel Tampa in Tampa Bay, Florida, early Monday morning, Addison’s attorney issued the following announcement, stating they are considering the viability of disputing the arrest.
“On Jordan’s behalf, his legal team has already initiated the investigation, identified witnesses, and we are reviewing the viability of a claim for false arrest,” Younger & Associates wrote in a post on X. “He looks forward to the legal process and upon full investigation, we are confident Mr. Addison will be exonerated.”
Heavy Sports first broke the news of Addison’s arrest Tuesday morning.
According to court documents obtained by Heavy, Addison was arrested by Seminole Indian Police at 3:46 a.m. ET on January 12. He was charged with a first-degree misdemeanor for probable trespassing in an occupied structure or conveyance.
A source told Heavy that Addison was arrested at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, located 12 miles from the Tampa Bay International Airport, which was confirmed in court documents. He was released from custody at 2:40 p.m. ET on Monday after posting bail of a $500 cash bond, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Addison, 23, has had two previous run-ins with the law since entering the NFL in 2023.
The summer of his rookie year, Addison was pulled over for driving 140 mph on a Minnesota interstate. He pleaded guilty to a single count of speeding as part of a plea deal that dismissed a charge of reckless driving.
In 2024, Addison was arrested on suspicion of a DUI in Los Angeles. He later pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, which led to the NFL suspending him for the first three games of the 2025 season.
Vikings Make Announcement After Jordan Addison’s Arrest
Addison’s arrest came days before general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O’Connell were scheduled to speak in their end-of-year news conference.
Adofo-Mensah addressed Addison’s future with the organization.
“We just found that information [about Addison’s arrest], so I don’t want to speak too deeply about it,” Adofo-Mensah said January 13. “But obviously, any decision you make with Nailor or anybody else is about the short-term and the long-term of that room. Jordan is unique because 99 percent of the days that Jordan Addison is a Viking, he is a joy to be around. He is incredibly intelligent, confident, [and] responsible.
“Then it’s like all of us; it’s what are you like on those 1 percent days? Is it the type of thing that draws attention or not? Obviously, that’s something we have to consider when you’re talking about long-term ramifications of a contract extension and different things like that, or letting somebody like Jalen Nailor leave.
“We’ll have those conversations, obviously, just a few days after the season. And obviously, this event just happened. We have not. But always supportive of Jordan Addison. We’ll continue to back, find, and see what actually happened. And then we’ll have those conversations in the future.”
Vikings WR Jalen Nailor’s Name Raised Amid Jordan Addison’s Legal Woes
An interesting piece to Adofo-Mensah’s comments on Addison was the subject of Nailor.
His situation was brought up twice by Adofo-Mensah, who must decide whether to re-sign the fourth-year receiver who has been the Addison insurance policy throughout his time in Minnesota.
Nailor is scheduled to become a free agent and will surely test the market. Whether the Vikings will come close to matching a competing offer will be a major question this offseason.
