New York Giants star linebacker Brian Burns is one of many fined by the league following the Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
According to the NFL, on Saturday, Burns was fined $11,593 for unsportsmanlike conduct/taunting when there was 4:15 remaining in the third quarter during the Sunday afternoon game.
Cowboys won the game, 40-37, on a game-winning field goal from Brandon Aubrey as the clock expired in overtime.
James Hudson Fined For Striking James Houston
Giants offensive tackle James Hudson drew four penalties on one possession against the Cowboys on Sunday. The league handed down a fine to Hudson for one action during that sequence.
Hudson appeared to strike Cowboys defensive end James Houston in the helmet after slipping out of his stance. The NFL fined Hudson $12,172 for unnecessary roughness or striking/kicking/kneeling.
Hudson was flagged four times — including two personal fouls — on New York’s opening drive last week against Dallas.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll benched Hudson but defended his left tackle’s play after the game. “It’s not like he wants to go out there and commit these penalties,” he said.
CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens Pick Up $25K in Fines
Three Cowboys players were also fined coming out of Sunday’s game, including CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, who were each fined twice.
Both players were fined $14,491 for what the league classified as violent gestures late in the fourth quarter, when Pickens scored a go-ahead touchdown. Lamb and Pickens mimicked gun gestures with their hands.
Pickens was also fined another $14,491 for removing his helmet before leaving the field. No flags were thrown.
Pickens received a second fine of $14,491 for removing his helmet in that moment. And Lamb received a second fine of $11,593 for unsportsmanlike conduct/taunting during a different play in the second quarter. Both players will pay more than $25,000 in fines.
Also Cowboys defensive end Brevyn Spann-Ford was fined $5,370 for unnecessary roughness on a leg whip in the fourth quarter with 6:14 left to play.
Cowboys-Giants Was a High Scoring Thriller
In what many expected to be a blowout, the Giants and Cowboys delivered a back-and-forth thriller that stretched into overtime. If not for 26 combined penalties, it might have been remembered as an instant classic.
Dallas trailed 13-10 at halftime but took the lead in the third on Javonte Williams’ 30-yard touchdown run. The Giants answered with Graham Gano’s third field goal to tie it at 16. Miles Sanders capped an 85-yard drive with a 4-yard score, only for the Giants to respond with touchdowns from Cam Skattebo and Wan’Dale Robinson.
The final minute was chaos. Dak Prescott hit Pickens for a 6-yard go-ahead touchdown with 52 seconds left, but Russell Wilson answered three plays later, connecting with Malik Nabers for a 48-yard strike and a 37-34 Giants lead. Prescott then marched Dallas into range for Brandon Aubrey’s game-tying kick at the buzzer.

In overtime, Wilson’s deep heave was intercepted by Donovan Wilson, setting up Prescott once more. A chip-shot walk-off field goal from Aubrey sealed a 40-37 Dallas victory, improving Prescott’s career record against the Giants to 14-2.
Both quarterbacks starred: Prescott went 38-of-52 for 361 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick, while Wilson threw for 450 yards, three scores, and one interception on 30-of-41 passing. Rookie Jaxson Dart also made his debut, handing off to Skattebo.
In Week 3, the Giants host the Kansas City Chiefs on “Sunday Night Football,” while the Cowboys visit the Chicago Bears in the 4:25 p.m. slot.
