Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata enters the 2025 season as the top-ranked player at his position in the NFL.

The Philadelphia Eagles have boasted one of the premier offensive lines, for at least the past half-decade.

Despite some shuffling at key positions, Philadelphia has followed through on a core value of general manager Howie Roseman of building dominance along both lines of scrimmage, and it has resulted in a pair of Lombardi Trophies and three Super Bowl appearances over the past eight seasons.

As the 2025 regular season approaches, the Eagles are anchored by the NFL’s top-ranked offensive tackle, according to Pro Football Focus.

Jordan Mailata checks in at No. 11 on PFF analyst Trevor Sikkema’s list of the top-50 players for the upcoming season, and is the highest-ranking offensive lineman on the list.

“Mailata’s rise from rugby player to elite left tackle reached new heights in 2024,” Sikkema writes for PFF. “His 95.2 PFF grade led all qualified offensive players and stands as the second-highest single-season grade ever for an offensive lineman, trailing only Trent Williams’ 96.6 in 2021. This isn’t a one-year breakout either—since 2022, Mailata ranks third among tackles in Wins Above Replacement, behind only Penei Sewell and teammate Lane Johnson.”

Playing opposite Johnson, Mailata makes up half of one of the more consistently dominant offensive tackle pairings in the NFL, and is a foundational piece of the Eagles’ success on offense.

Last season, Mailata allowed just one sack while garnering an elite 94.9 run-blocking grade from PFF, which both underscores the versatility of his dominance up front but also his value as a catalyst to running back Saquon Barkley‘s breakout season.

If Mailata continues on this trajectory, the Eagles’ offensive line is going to remain one of the steadiest and most valuable units in the league.

Eagles’ Offensive Lineman Entering Training Camp on The Bubble

Position battles and fights for roster spots are a hallmark of NFL training camps, and this summer is no different for the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles.

Philadelphia’s depth along the offensive line and strong starting lineup signal that roster spots and opportunities for snaps will be at a premium, even for newcomers who just arrived this offseason.

As the Eagles prepare to open training camp, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro suggests offensive guard Kenyon Green is already on the bubble, after arriving as part of the trade that sent safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans this offseason.

“The Eagles got the former first-round pick as part of the return from the Texans in the C.J. Gardner-Johnson trade,” Zangaro writes for NBCS Philadelphia. “But he’s not a lock to make their roster. Green was the No. 15 overall pick out of Texas A&M back in 2022 but has struggled in his NFL career. During the spring, he was working with the third-team offensive line.”

Green will likely be competing with Tyler Steen and Landon Dickerson for a starting job or for the role as the backup swing-guard when camp gets underway.

It would seem that Philadelphia acquired Green as a bet that a change of scenery and offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland’s influence would untap both his first-round potential and whatever NFL upside Roseman and Co. believed the 24-year-old hasn’t been able to attain in Houston.

However, after allowing five sacks last season while garnering a meager 38.6 overall grade from PFF, it might take a stellar training camp and preseason from Green this summer, just to make the Eagles’ roster and live up to the fresh start Philadelphia is offering.

Saquon Barkley’s Surprising Preseason Ranking Among Running Backs

Saquon Barkley was a driving force behind the Eagles’ run to a second Super Bowl championship, in his first season in Philadelphia, and enters the 2025 season with the benefit of a second season running behind arguably the top offensive line in football.

However, as the 2025 season approaches, Pro Football Focus lists Barkley as the No. 2 ranked running back in the league, behind the Ravens’ Derrick Henry, and as the No. 22 overall player in the sport.

“Barkley’s record-setting season was pivotal in helping Philadelphia capture its second championship,” Sikkema writes for PFF. “Including the postseason, he surpassed 2,500 rushing yards, powered by an offensive line that ranked fourth in run-blocking grade. But Barkley made the difference, turning blocks into big plays weekly. He led the NFL with 1,446 yards after contact and 55 explosive runs, while his 83 missed tackles forced trailed only Derrick Henry.”

What Barkley does as an encore this season will go a long way towards determining whether the Eagles can repeat, and dispelling the notion that his first season in Philadelphia was some sort of fluke or one-year wonder as the culmination of a perfect storm of marrying talent and supporting cast.
