X Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters on May 23.
The native Australians fell in love on set in 1995 and now are living in New York, raising a family.
Here’s what you need to know about the 58-year-old who originally didn’t want her husband to play the comic book hero.
1. Their First Kiss Is Online
In Correlli, an Australian drama, which was Jackman’s first job out of acting school, she played the title role. After seeing their kiss, producers told them they liked their chemistry.
Jackman stopped talking to her on set, embarrassed that he was falling for his first leading lady. She called him out on it — and confessed her love too.
I’m an indecisive person … when I met Deb … it was the clearest thing in the world to me. I knew 100 percent.
They married in 1996 and, according to Hugh, they are “never apart more than two weeks.”
On their 17th anniversary, Jackman sent this tweet:

2. She Has 2 Adopted Children
Furness was already 40 when they got married and miscarried the two times she did become pregnant.
Jackman said, “One of the families I used to stay with when my parents separated had five kids; two were adopted, so it didn’t seem abnormal to me.”
They adopted their son, Oscar, who is African-American, Caucasian, Hawaiian and Cherokee, in 2000.
Five years later, they adopted Ava, who is half Mexican and half German, at 4 days old.
Their style of parenting was completely different, since they grew up in opposite kinds of households.
I’m one of five kids with an accountant father who was incredibly disciplined and orderly. She comes from a single-mom, only-child situation that was very loosey-goosey. When Oscar was born, at first it was like two worlds colliding.
3. People Say Her Marriage Is a Sham Because They Think Hugh Jackman Is Gay
When Jackman played Peter Allen, a gay man who died from AIDS, in The Boy from Oz, the gay rumors began.
Although he shrug them off, his wife cannot.
It’s just offensive. If he was gay, fine, he would say he’s gay. It has gotten so out of whack … it’s stupid, yeah, it’s annoying, because it’s not true.
Some people also seem to think it’s strange that his wife is older than he is and doesn’t have the body of a typical Hollywood actress.
If anyone meets my wife, they’re like, ‘You’re all right, Hugh, but your wife is awesome.’ Everyone who meets her loves her. So it’s just wrong. It almost makes me sad for the people [saying those things]. They’re obviously in a bad place.
4. She Said She ‘Gets to Have So Many Affairs’
In the above interview, Furness speaks about how her husband is always changing his look with each new role.
“I get the stockbroker, I get Wolverine. Wolverine is a lot of fun,” she said.
However, she wasn’t so thrilled about his extreme weight loss for Les Miserables.
“Les Mis was hard. … And he lost so much weight. Didn’t make me look good,” she said.

Furness is eight years old than her husband.
In an interview with Katie Couric, he said, “Anyone that knows Deb, literally, I am the old fuddy duddy of the relationship.”
In the same interview, Hugh goes on to explain that when he is acting opposite a woman, he is sure to make his wife comfortable.
They all have dinner together. “They all prefer her to me. In fact, Meg Ryan took her out on dates,”he said.
