Mohammed Nabi Omari
Mohammed Nabi Omari is an Afghan national born in Metakhan Village in the Khowst Province in 1968. According to Department of Defense documents published by Wikileaks, Nabi served in multiple leadership roles in the Taliban and al-Qaida during the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. He also maintained a weapons depot for fighters and assisted in the smuggling of fighters and weapons. In 2008, he was classified as being of high risk in the case of release, high risk inside the detention facility, and of high intelligence value. On September 14, 2002, Nabi received a phone call from the governor of Khowst, the province where he served as a police officer between 1992 and 1994, summoning him to the airport. There he was arrested by U.S. forces. He was sent to Guantanamo one month later. As of 2008, he had 37 disciplinary infractions in Guantanamo, including throwing a cup of feces at a guard.
