1. Kapfer Cited Irreconcilable Differences as the Reason for Divorce
On Tuesday, April 22, 2014, Sara Kapfer filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences at L.A. County Superior Court, according to TMZ.
2. Gooding and Kapfer Were High School Sweethearts
The couple has been together over 20 years and were actually high school sweethearts, so the news of their split is very unfortunate. Gooding and Kapfer were married in 1994.
3. Sara Kapfer Is Seeking Joint Custody
Kapfer and Gooding have three children together and Kapfer wants joint legal and physical custody, as reported by TMZ. Us Weekly writes:
She asked for joint custody for the couple’s three children Spencer, 19, Mason, 17, and Piper, 8.
4. On The View, Gooding Has Said He’s Wanted to Kill Kapfer
Everyone’s spouse can make them crazy sometimes. Over the summer 2013, Gooding appeared on the talk show The View and gushed about his wife.
She has been changing to this other woman that I have to introduce myself to every few years. And thank god I’ve fallen in love with each one. It’s true. I’m lucky that way. I want to kill her sometimes.
Perhaps it was some of these “changes” that triggered the break up.
5. The Couple Had Rules to Make It Work
Gooding and his school teacher wife Kapfer apparently had guidelines to keep their marriage healthy. Daily Mail reports Gooding as saying:
When you do films, you’re away from the family, but I can still fly them in or fly home to see them, so… my wife and I… have this rule – never go more than three or four weeks without seeing each other.
