Bruce Jenner has gone to great lengths in order to become Caitlyn and now she is showcasing her transition to womanhood on her new reality show I Am Cait. The show follows her as a transgender person, exploring the new aspects and changes with her life. In order to get to this point, Jenner has had to undergo many surgeries, such as shaving down her adam’s apple, facial feminizing, a nose job, breast implants and more. As far as the public knows, Jenner has not removed her penis yet, but other surgeries have been confirmed. In fact, one of Caitlyn’s doctors, Dr. Harrison Lee, told E! that Caitlyn’s surgeries with him totaled an estimated $70,000. When Caitlyn had undergone the 10-hour facial feminization surgery, the procedure involved changes to the hairline, forehead, jaw, and chin. When Jenner first woke up from the surgery, she told Vanity Fair she felt a bit of regret at first. Vanity Fair narrated:
The pain was such that she had no choice but to be on large amounts of medication. She had ice packs over her eyes. She closed them for a little bit, then suddenly shot up, causing the ice packs to slip. She was undergoing something that had never happened before in 65 years of life: a panic attack … The panic attack lasted about 15 seconds, but a single thought continued to course through her mind: “What did I just do? What did I just do to myself?” … The thought has since passed and has not come back. There is no buyer’s remorse. Not that it matters anyway, because there is no turning back.
In the 1980’s, Jenner began transitioning by taking hormones and getting her first nose job. However, she stopped by the 1990’s for the sake of her family.
When finally transitioning fully into a woman, Caitlyn told Vanity Fair that it was very important she not just look like “a man in a dress.”
