How many more moves do the Atlanta Braves have in them this offseason? It seems as if Atlanta has already addressed massive flaws so far this winter, but there is still time to make additional impactful moves. Braves’ GM Alex Anthopoulos has indicated that he wants to add another arm this offseason, but will the Braves open up the checkbook and ink another multi-year deal to a free agent contract?
This remains to be seen, but the Braves are competing in a tough National League, so in order to keep pace with top clubs like the Dodgers, Cubs, and Phillies, Atlanta could certainly afford to add another starter. A recent prediction has the Braves landing a top name on the starter market in Lucas Giolito.

Should the Braves Target Lucas Giolito?
Among the top starting pitcher options left on the market, Lucas Giolito isn’t a top name like Framber Valdez, Zac Gallen, or Chris Bassitt, but he could be a great value addition.
FanSided’s Chris Landers recently predicted Lucas Giolito to sign with the Atlanta Braves:

GettyBraves predicted to land former Red Sox starter.
“Giolito profiles as just that. He also comes with injury risk — he started the 2025 season late coming back from elbow surgery, and he ended it early due to another elbow issue — and he didn’t miss nearly as many bats last year as he had in the past. But another year removed from surgery should help him find his old stuff again, and at the very least he brings a certain amount of veteran savvy. If he’s looking for a one-year deal to rebuild his value, Atlanta might jump at the chance.”
However, Giolito’s market value projects him to earn a three-year, $61 million contract, which might be attractive to Atlanta, which has many young arms that are still controllable.

What Does Lucas Giolito Bring to a Rotation?
For Atlanta’s rotation, they don’t exactly need a frontline starter because they have Chris Sale and Spencer Schwellenbach.
However, Giolito would be a great third or fourth option along with Grant Holmes and Hurston Waldrep.
After missing all of 2024 with injury, the former All-Star starter had a quality campaign in 2025 with the Red Sox. He made 26 starts to the tune of a 3.41 ERA over 140+ innings.
At this moment, it feels as if Boston will not re-sign him, which opens up the door for a team like Atlanta to get a deal done.
The Braves have made great additions so far to their pitching staff this winter, but if injuries in the rotation pile up again in 2026, it could pose issues to the entire team, and adding another option that can give 100+ innings from the rotation will allow for the entire Braves organization to breathe a bit.
