The Carolina Panthers have received an encouraging injury update on wide receiver Jalen Coker ahead of their Week 6 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.
After dealing with multiple injuries during the opening month of the 2026 NFL season, Coker has no game status designation on Carolina’s final injury report for Sunday, October 18.
The third-year receiver was listed with a quadriceps injury throughout the week but received full participation credit Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The development puts Coker on track to return after missing Carolina’s Week 4 matchup with the Detroit Lions. The Panthers had a bye in Week 5.
Panthers Clear Jalen Coker After Weeks of Injury Concerns
Coker’s injury problems began in Week 1, when he rolled his ankle during Carolina’s season-opening loss to the Chicago Bears.
Despite the injury, he finished that game with eight receptions for 138 yards and two touchdowns, immediately establishing himself as one of quarterback Bryce Young’s most productive targets.
The ankle issue continued to affect Coker’s practice availability in subsequent weeks. He was listed as questionable before the Panthers’ September 27 matchup with the Cleveland Browns but was ultimately able to play.
That game brought another setback.
Coker suffered a quadriceps injury against Cleveland that forced him out of the contest. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport subsequently reported that the injury was a minor strain, although Coker’s availability for the following week’s game remained uncertain.
The receiver was eventually ruled inactive against Detroit on October 4.
Now, nearly three weeks after his last game appearance, Coker appears ready to resume his role in Carolina’s offense.
In the Panthers’ October 16 injury report, team reporter Darin Gantt confirmed that Coker was among the players carrying no game designation and available for Sunday’s contest.

Jalen Coker’s Return Gives Bryce Young Another Weapon
Coker’s expected return comes at a particularly important time for Carolina’s receiving corps.
Fellow wide receiver Xavier Legette was placed on injured reserve ahead of the Detroit game because of a knee injury, removing another option from Young’s passing attack.
With Legette unavailable and Coker sidelined, the Panthers had to adjust their receiving rotation, including expanded opportunities for Brycen Tremayne and John Metchie III.
Coker’s return should help restore some of the chemistry that made Carolina’s passing offense dangerous early in the season.
Through his first three games, Coker recorded 18 receptions for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He was particularly effective alongside Tetairoa McMillan, giving Young multiple productive receiving options.
The Panthers also have reason to be optimistic about Young’s ability to take advantage of a healthier supporting cast. The quarterback has opened the season with some of the strongest production of his NFL career.
Carolina will still have to determine how extensively to use Coker in his first game back. His removal from the final injury designation clears the way for a return but does not guarantee a particular snap count.
Is Jalen Coker Playing Against the Eagles?
Coker is expected to play against Philadelphia on Sunday, October 18, after practicing fully throughout the week and avoiding a questionable, doubtful or out designation.
His official active status will be confirmed when the Panthers release their game-day inactive list approximately 90 minutes before kickoff.
Carolina and Philadelphia are scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Panthers enter the matchup following their Week 5 bye, while the Eagles have significant injury concerns of their own.
Philadelphia has ruled out starting quarterback Jalen Hurts because of a blood clot in his leg, leaving Tanner McKee in line to start.
For Carolina, the return of Coker offers a chance to reestablish an offensive connection that produced immediate results before injuries interrupted his promising start to the season.
