The most mysterious man in the Philadelphia Eagles organization isn’t going anywhere after the franchise agreed to a contract extension with famed Chief Security Officer Dom “Big Dom” Disandro on Monday.

“The Eagles have agreed to a contract extension with Dom DiSandro, whose official titles are Senior Advisor to the GM, Chief Security Officer, and Gameday Coaching Operations,” The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov wrote on his official X account. “He has been in Philadelphia since 1999.”

In recent years, DiSandro, who was nicknamed “Papa Bear” by former Eagles center Jason Kelce, has seemed to serve as more of a personal security guard for increasingly volatile and unpredictable Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni above all of his other duties.

“Wait, Big Dom doesn’t have a lifetime contract by now???” Fly Eagles Fly Bets wrote on its official X account. “In all seriousness, this is good to see and I would love to see the actual numbers to this deal but the Eagles don’t report the money on contracts to non players but it would be very interesting to see what his role does actually pay.”

‘Big Dom’ DiSandro No Stranger to NFL Drama

According to multiple reports in September 2025, Big Dom was fined $75,000 by the NFL for texting from the Eagles bench during a preseason game.

It’s not the first time Big Dom, who has become a cult icon in Philadelphia, has run afoul of the NFL. In 2023, he was fined $100,000 and banned from the Eagles’ sideline for the rest of the season.

“The NFL has banned Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro from being on the sideline for the remainder of the regular season after he was ejected from a game earlier this month for a scuffle with 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, two people familiar with the league’s decision told The Associated Press on Saturday,” The AP’s Rob Maadi wrote in December 2023.

While DiSandro’s role with the team is often up for debate — he’s been described as a “fixer” multiple times — what’s not up for debate is the success the team has had with him in their employ.

Since DiSandro took over as chief security officer, the South Philadelphia native has worked behind the scenes for a pair of Super Bowl championship teams and another Super Bowl appearance.

Big Dom’s Critical Role Looking Out for Sirianni

In recent years, Big Dom has been most valuable in getting Sirianni out of trouble.

In December 2024, Big Dom was the 1 who stepped in and separated Sirianni from Washington Commanders tight end and former Eagle Zach Ertz during a confrontation following a regular-season game.

In 2025, Fox Sports aired a video of Sirianni being separated from a group of game officials by Big Dom at halftime of a Week 2 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

In the final game of last season, a 23-19 home loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card Round, it was Big Dom who stepped in between Sirianni and NFL All-Pro wide receiver A.J. Brown during a heated sideline confrontation right before halftime.
