Cosmi will undergo an MRI on Sunday and is expected to miss at least one game after exiting with a right knee injury during Saturday's 45-31 win over the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Cosmi suffered what appeared to be a significant injury when he got his leg rolled up on during the second quarter. Rapoport adds that the 25-year-old offensive lineman will likely be sidelined for an extended period, effectively knocking him out for next Sunday's NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 9, should the Commanders advance. As a result, backup Trent Scott will likely start at right guard for the remainder of Washinton's playoff run.
Ertz brought in all five targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders' 45-31 divisional-round win over the Lions on Saturday night. The veteran tight end finished second in receptions for the Commanders, but he was only fourth in receiving yards thanks to his short-area role. However, Ertz's value went beyond the stat sheet Saturday, even though his five-yard touchdown grab late in the first half did extend Washington's lead to 10 points at the time. Additionally, Ertz was able to convert a key fourth down early in the second quarter that led to him being checked for a concussion and which helped lead to a Brian Robinson one-yard touchdown run, and he also managed to handle a tricky bounce and recover an onside kick with 5:01 remaining and Washington up by 14 points. Ertz should once again play a key complementary role in an NFC Championship Game battle against either the Rams or his old Eagles squad Sunday, Jan. 26.
Brown brought in six of eight targets for 98 yards in the Commanders' 45-31 divisional-round win over the Lions on Saturday night. Brown was the surprise leader in receptions, receiving yards and targets for the Commanders on the night while also recording the second-longest catch of the upset victory via a 42-yard grab on the first play of the second quarter. The 2021 third-round pick enjoyed an ascendant regular season and has stepped up his play further since, posting a combined 11-187-1 line on 13 targets over Washington's two postseason victories to date. Brown will look to keep up the productive stretch against either the Rams or the Eagles in an NFC Championship Game battle on Sunday, Jan. 26.
McLaurin secured four of six targets for 87 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders' 45-31 divisional-round win over the Lions on Saturday night. The veteran wideout finished second in receiving yards to Dyami Brown on the Commanders for the night, and his second-quarter touchdown came on a game-long 58-yard catch and run off a wide-receiver screen. McLaurin now has a combined 13-176-2 line on 16 targets over Washington's first pair of postseason wins, and he'll look to record a scoring grab for the fourth consecutive game overall against the Rams or Eagles in an NFC Championship Game matchup on Sunday, Jan. 26.
Robinson rushed 15 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns and wasn't targeted in the Commanders' 45-31 divisional-round win over the Lions on Saturday night. The Lions had maintained one of the league's best run defenses all season despite enduring a multitude of injuries, but Robinson and backfield mate Austin Ekeler both were able to make significant inroads on the ground Saturday. Robinson operated in his usual No. 1 back role and recorded two- and one-yard rushing touchdowns in the second and fourth quarter, respectively. The talented third-year back served as a key component of the Commanders' offensive success and helped keep the Lions' defense off balance in Jayden Daniels' second career playoff start, and he'll look to fill a similar role in an NFC Championship Game matchup against the Rams or Eagles on Sunday, Jan. 26.
Daniels completed 22 of 31 passes for 299 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and added 51 rushing yards on 16 carries in the Commanders' 45-31 divisional-round win over the Lions on Saturday night. The Commanders shocked the NFL world by going into Ford Field and emerging with a victory, and Daniels was unsurprisingly the centerpiece of that effort. The seemingly unflappable rookie set the tone for the night in the first half by leading four scoring drives that totaled 24 points, capping off two of them with touchdown passes of 58 and five yards to Terry McLaurin and Zach Ertz, respectively. Daniels then filled a more subdued role in the second half but had the luxury of playing with a lead throughout, and he engineered a pair of long marches that took a total of nearly 13 minutes off the clock and culminated in Brian Robinson and Jeremy McNichols one-yard rushing touchdowns. In the process, Daniels became the first rookie in NFL history to top 300 total yards in two playoff games, and he'll look to put together a fitting encore in the NFC Championship Game against either the Rams or Eagles on Sunday, Jan. 26.
Zaccheaus (groin) returned to Saturday's divisional-round contest in Detroit, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports. Zaccheaus was deemed questionable to return late in the first half due to a groin injury but rejoined his teammates on the Commanders' second possession after halftime. He'll rejoin a receiving corps composed of Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown, Jamison Crowder and Luke McCaffrey.
