Sam Cosmi: Everything you need to know

The Commanders placed Cosmi (concussion) on injured reserve Monday. Cosmi entered the league's concussion protocol following the Commanders' loss to the Eagles on Saturday. His placement on injured reserve means he won't be available for Washington's final two games of the regular season, so that spot will be filled by either Andrew Wylie or Nick Allegretti for the rest of the 2025 campaign.

Cosmi is in concussion protocol following Saturday's loss to Philadelphia, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports. Cosmi was pulled late in the fourth quarter Saturday and was evaluated for a concussion. With testing having confirmed that diagnosis, the veteran offensive lineman will need to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol before he can return to action. If Cosmi can't play Christmas Day against Dallas, Andrew Wylie or Nick Allegretti could start at right guard.

Cosmi (head) exited Saturday's game against the Eagles and did not return, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports. Cosmi was unable to return to Saturday's contest after suffering a head injury late in the fourth quarter. The offensive guard's status for Week 17 will depend on his practice participation. The injury to the 26-year-old means the Commanders' offensive line depth gets even thinner, as they are already without Laremy Tunsil (oblique). Brandon Coleman (shin) also left Saturday's game with an injury.
