Worst of Netflix: Bad Girls From Mars

Eventually the movie does drop a twist that’s genuinely surprising when the killer’s identity is revealed.  Not because it’s Brinke Stevens, but because Brinke Stevens is actually Emmanuelle’s ex-boyfriend who was inspired to undergo gender reassignment surgery and try to break into softcore porn, but turned instead to serial killing.  I can honestly say I did not see that one coming.

Either way, the day is saved when Emmanuelle stops Brinke Stevens from blowing up the movie studio with a well-placed shot right to the ovaries:

Of course, that just points to a bigger problem:  When the most interesting thing in your skin-flick is the last-minute plot twist, you’ve probably made a mistake somewhere along the line.

The worst part, though, is the acting, and seriously:  it’s a softcore porn called Bad Girls From Mars.  The bar was not exactly set that high, and if there’s one thing you’d think the girls in this movie could pull off, it’d be a convincing portrayal of a girl in a terrible softcore porn.

At the same time, the guys playing the movie’s crew are so dead on that I’m reasonably certain they are the movie’s crew.  They’re people I really identified with, both because they hated the movie they were making, and because the guy playing the director indulged in the only on-screen reference I’ve seen to the Worst of Netflix’s signature cocktail:

Whiskey and Alka-Seltzer.  I call it “The Heavy Freelancer.”
