Webb (3-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on nine hits and three walks over 3.2 innings as the Giants fell 4-0 to the Red Sox. He struck out four. After four straight starts in which he lasted at least seven innings and allowed two runs or less, Webb struggled to put away hitters and generated only four swinging strikes among his 91 pitches. Despite the stumble, the 27-year-old right-hander still sports a 2.98 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB through 42.1 innings, and he's served up just one homer so far in 2024. Webb faces a tough challenge in his next scheduled start, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Philadelphia.
Fitzgerald went 3-for-3 with a double and one run scored in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Pirates. Fitzgerald has recorded three multi-hit games this season, and he's batting .313 with a .915 OPS over 34 plate appearances. He remains in a utility role, but he's done well when in the lineup, posting one home run, three RBI, six runs scored, two doubles, a triple and four stolen bases. Fitzgerald's lack of an everyday role limits his fantasy viability, and his best chance at playing time is at shortstop, though Nick Ahmed has held his own there by batting .262 over 27 contests. Fitzgerald has also played in center field occasionally versus southpaws when Jung Hoo Lee is out of the lineup, though that has not been a strict platoon situation.
Yastrzemski went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Pirates. Yastrzemski has hit safely in six of his last eight games, going 9-for-22 (.409) in that span. His two hitless contests in that span were games during which he entered off the bench. The outfielder remains in a strong-side platoon role this year. He's slashing .236/.311/.345 with two homers, 10 RBI, seven runs scored and no stolen bases over 62 plate appearances while sharing right field with platoon partner Austin Slater.
Estrada went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Pirates. Estrada opened the scoring when he took Jared Jones deep in the third inning. Estrada has gone 2-for-7 over two games since he recovered from a minor hamstring issue. The second baseman is slashing a modest .235/.255/.422 with four homers, 13 RBI, 12 runs scored and no stolen bases through 28 contests. His power is in line with previous years, but Estrada logged 20-plus steals in both 2022 and 2023, so it's a little unusual to see him getting less involved on the basepaths.
Doval allowed a run on two hits and a walk in one inning of work Sunday. He did not record a strikeout but picked up a save against the Pirates. Doval retired the first two batters he faced before letting three straight Pirates reach base. He forced Joey Bart into a game-ended groundout to finish off the 3-2 win. Doval has converted all five of his save chances while registering a 3.38 ERA through 10.2 frames. Sunday was his first save since April 23 against the Mets.
Winn (3-3) allowed a run on three hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out five and picking up a win over the Pirates. Winn fired four shutout frames before coughing up a run on an RBI groundout in the fifth. He's allowed exactly one run over six innings in three consecutive starts, earning a win in each. Winn has registered a terrific 1.96 ERA with a 21:6 K:BB over his last 23 innings, lowering his season ERA to 3.18. He's currently lined up for a start in Philadelphia next weekend.
Hicks said he experienced a bit of side tightness during his start against the Pirates on Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Hicks apparently felt the tightness following the sixth inning, though he still briefly came out for the seventh before being pulled after giving up a leadoff single. The right-hander is apparently fine, but it's still worth keeping an eye on his status heading into his next turn through the rotation, which lines up for next weekend in Philadelphia.
