Bellator Announces Addition of Wilson Reis to Featherweight Tournament

Bellator Fighting Championships today announced that Wilson Reis (9-1) will return for Bellator’s season two featherweight tournament.

Reis is the former EliteXC bantamweight champion. He lost in the semi-final round of Bellator’s first season featherweight tournament to Joe Soto. It was considered a huge upset, as Reis was the tournament favorite and considered by many to be a top ten featherweight at the time.

“Wilson’s a very talented fighter at 145 and was just one judge’s decision away from advancing to the featherweight championship fight last season,” said Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney. “The Soto-Reis fight was one of the best fights in a season of great fights and the chance to potentially see a rematch between these two would be awesome. But first. Wilson has to get through a gauntlet of great fighters at 145. Plain and simple with Wilson’s addition, our featherweight tournament is stacked.”

Reis is the sixth confirmed competitor for Bellator’s upcoming season 2 featherweight tournament. The winner of the tournament will receive a shot at Soto’s championship at the end of the season.
