Two UFC 121 Prelims Announced For Spike TV Special

Two preliminary card bouts from UFC 121 will be featured on Spike TV during the hour-long preliminary special this October.

Spike TV officials announced today that “The Ultimate Fighter Season 11” winner Court McGee will take on Ryan Jensen in the middleweight division, while fellow 185-pounders Tom Lawlor and Patrick Cote will also be a part of the special.

McGee will enter the fight fresh off his submission victory over Kris McCray at the finale of “The Ultimate Fighter’s” most recent season. McGee’s road to the UFC comes after a long battle with drug addiction and the middleweight looks to continue to build upon his amazing story.

McGee’s opponent, Jensen, is a UFC veteran who has gone 2-2 in his last four contests. His last fight, a submission win over Jesse Forbes at UFC 114, earned him Submission of the Night honors, along with a bit of job security.

In the other match up, Cote looks to rebuild after consecutive stoppage losses, while Lawlor looks to redeem himself after consecutive losses of his own.

Cote returned to the cage after his technical knockout loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 90 against Alan Belcher at UFC 113. Cote was forced to submit to the rising middleweight contender in the second round via rear naked choke. Meanwhile, Lawlor is coming off a submission loss at UFC 113 as well. Lawlor was submitted by Joe Doerksen in the second round of action, a loss which followed his split-decision defeat at the hands of Aaron Simpson earlier this year.

UFC 121 is set for October 23 from Anaheim, California and features a heavyweight title clash between champion Brock Lesnar and top contender Cain Velasquez. The card also features the UFC debut of top welterweight Jake Shields, who faces off against Martin Kampmann.
