Curry (ankle) signed a one-year contract with the Hornets on Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Curry was dealt from the Mavs to the Hornets on Feb. 8 and averaged 9.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in his next eight appearances before being shut down for the rest of the year with an ankle injury. However, Curry evidently showed enough during his brief stint for the team to bring him back for the 2024-25 campaign. He'll face plenty of competition for playing time in Charlotte's backcourt, as he'll go up against the likes of Vasilije Micic, Tre Mann and Reggie Jackson.

Seth Curry Latest News
Returning to Charlotte
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/charlotte-hornets-logo.png?w=150)
Let go by Charlotte
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/charlotte-hornets-logo.png?w=150)
The Hornets waived Curry (ankle) on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Curry was traded from the Mavericks to the Hornets during the 2023-24 campaign but had his season cut short due to a right ankle sprain. Across his 43 appearances for Dallas and Charlotte, Curry averaged 5.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 14.3 minutes. While Curry will head into the offseason as a free agent, there is reported interest in a reunion from both sides.
Starting basketball activities soon
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/charlotte-hornets-logo.png?w=150)
Curry said Monday during his exit interview that he's dealing with a Grade 3 right ankle sprain and hopes to begin basketball activities in a couple of weeks, Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site reports. Curry suffered the injury at the beginning of March and was shut down for the rest of the season. Lingering ankle issues plagued the sharpshooter all season, and he finished with just 43 appearances (four starts), averaging 5.3 points -- his lowest mark since 2014-15 when he appeared in just two games. Curry has one non-guaranteed year remaining on his current contract.
Out for remainder of season
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/charlotte-hornets-logo.png?w=150)
Hornets head coach Steve Clifford said Wednesday that Curry (ankle) won't return this season, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports. "Those two guys are not going to be able to come back," Clifford said of Curry and Cody Martin (ankle). "And it doesn't mean we can't play well. It doesn't mean we can't be proud of how we play. But that's just where we are at. Listen, it's not ideal." Curry hasn't played since March 1 due to a right ankle sprain and will be shut down for good. After coming over from Dallas in a Feb. 8 trade, Curry appeared in eight games for Charlotte and averaged 9.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 three-pointers in 19.8 minutes while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from downtown. The 33-year-old shooting guard will enter the second season of a two-year, $8 million deal in 2024-25, though his salary doesn't become fully guaranteed until one day before the 2024 NBA Draft.
Remains out
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/charlotte-hornets-logo.png?w=150)
Curry (ankle) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Hawks. Curry hasn't played since March 1 due to a right ankle sprain. He's due for another evaluation soon, but until the team releases an update, the sharpshooter can be considered week-to-week.
Slated to miss at least two weeks
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/charlotte-hornets-logo.png?w=150)
The Hornets announced Monday that Curry (ankle) will be evaluated in two weeks. Curry and Cody Martin (ankle) are slated to miss at least the next two weeks, so Vasilije Micic, Bryce McGowens and Nick Smith are candidates for increased roles moving forward. Before missing Sunday's loss to Toronto, Curry had appeared in eight of nine games, averaging 9.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 19.8 minutes during that stretch.
Ruled out for Sunday
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/charlotte-hornets-logo.png?w=150)
Curry (ankle) will not play in Sunday's game versus the Raptors. Curry suffered an ankle injury Friday night while filling in for Brandon Miller (back). In addition to Curry being out, the Hornets will also be without Cody Martin (ankle), but Miller is expected to suit up.
Suffers ankle injury Friday
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/charlotte-hornets-logo.png?w=150)
Curry suffered a right ankle injury during Friday's game versus the 76ers and was unable to return. He finished with five points (2-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 23 minutes. Caleb Martin also suffered an ankle injury and was unable to return, so the injuries keep piling up for Charlotte. Curry drew the start Friday with Brandon Miller (back) out, but all three of these players will be re-evaluated Saturday before the Hornets take on the Raptors on Sunday.
Gets starting nod
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/charlotte-hornets-logo.png?w=150)
Curry is in the starting lineup for Friday's game versus the 76ers, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports. Curry will replace Brandon Miller (back) in the starting lineup Friday. Curry is averaging 7.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 22.7 minutes across his last three starting appearances.
