While the full salary has not been revealed, Kerr is expected to stay the highest-paid coach in the NBA over the next two seasons.

That doesn’t come as a surprise, considering everything he has accomplished since taking over as the main voice from the Warriors’ bench in 2014.

Over 12 seasons, Kerr’s teams have won 63.1% of their games during the regular season.

Through the first five seasons of his coaching career, the Warriors have won the Western Conference Finals. They were crowned as the NBA Champions three times during that stretch. After the Warriors came up short in the 2019 NBA Finals, it took them two seasons before they got back to the Finals stage.

In 2022, the Warriors were crowned Western Conference Champions for the sixth time under Kerr. They won the NBA Finals in 2022. That was the last time.

Since then, the Warriors have struggled in the postseason. They made it to the second round twice, but failed to get to the Western Conference Finals. The Warriors missed the playoffs in 2024 after going 44-38. They also missed the playoffs this past season, after finishing 37-45.

Although the Warriors won their first NBA Play-In game, they came up short against the Phoenix Suns in the battle for the eighth seed.

Kerr’s future was in question all season long. His contract expired at the end of the year, and he needed a few weeks to think his future over. The Warriors were patient with the situation, and the two parties worked on getting a new deal done as Kerr ultimately decided to come back for another run.
