The New York Mets have gotten themselves into some real trouble with their current 10-game losing streak. New York is 7-14 (worst record in MLB), and has scored just 18 runs in the last 10 games.
On Sunday, the Mets will be attempting to win a baseball game for the first time since April 7.

Will the New York Mets Win Today?
In the series finale against the Chicago Cubs, who have taken the first two games of the three-game set, the Mets will run out Tobias Myers to start. David Peterson was originally supposed to get the nod, but now it’s Myers with a chance to guide the Mets to a victory. Tobias Myers was acquired by the Mets in the Freddy Peralta-Brewers trade before the season. New York will face the Chicago Cubs at 2:20 p.m. ET with the chance to end their 10-game losing skid.
So, will the Mets win today? At this point, they almost HAVE to if they want any chance of competing in a tough National League. Granite, there are still over 130 games left to be played, but the Mets sit in the cellar of the NL East, and must turn things around offensively.
Those offensive woes may be due to Juan Soto’s absence in the lineup, but stars like Francisco Lindor, Marcus Semien, and even Bo Bichette are not hitting to start the season.
It’s also fair to question the status of Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, and how secure his job is if the Mets’ losing streak prolongs.

Inside the Mets Losing Streak
The Mets’ 10-game losing streak started on April 8 against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 7-2 loss.
New York then lost the series finale against the Diamondbacks on April 9 (7-1 loss).
The next three losses featured the Athletics coming into Citi Field and sweeping the Mets. After that, the team from Queens headed out west to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers and were swept at Dodger Stadium.
Now, the Mets are in jeopardy of being swept for a third consecutive series if they don’t win the series finale.
Some potential good news for the Mets’ chances on Sunday: the Cubs will roll out Javier Assas to oppose Tobias Myers. In his first handful of starts, Assad carries an ERA of 8.10.
So, Mets fans, will the team win today? And if they don’t, how does the panic level rise? And affect Carlos Mendoza’s managerial status.
