The Atlanta Falcons added some depth at the safety position on Tuesday, September 20 by signing Jovante Moffatt to the practice squad.

Moffatt originally signed with the Cleveland Browns following the 2020 NFL Draft out of Middle Tennessee State. Over the last two seasons, the 25-year-old safety has logged seven total tackles (four solo), plus two tackles on special teams through 14 games for Cleveland.
Moffatt’s signing puts the Falcons back to 16 players on the team’s practice squad.

After losing back-to-back games in Weeks 1 and 2, the Falcons will look to chalk up their first victory against the Seattle Seahawks for their Week 3 matchup.

Falcons Rookie Set for Larger Role
The biggest change to the Falcons’ Week 3 depth chart vs. the Seahawks is rookie running back Tyler Allgeier listed directly behind starter Cordarrelle Patterson.
With veteran running back Damien Williams on injured reserve with a rib injury, Allgeier should see more action on Sunday.
With Williams out vs. the LA Rams last Week, Allgeier was activated and carried the ball 10 times for 30 yards and gained one first down in his regular-season debut.
“I thought he ran pretty well and he’s become very dependable in protection,” coach Arthur Smith told reporters Monday.
Allgeier joined the Falcons this offseason as a fifth-round pick out of BYU following back-to-back seasons where he notched over 1,000 rushing yards. He currently owns the fifth-most rushing yards and second-most career touchdowns in BYU history.
His best season yet came last fall when he logged a single-season record of 1,601 yards, 1,606 yards and 23 touchdowns on 5.8 yards per carry, while adding 28 catches for 199 receiving yards as a junior in 2021.
He also brought plenty of versatility to Atlanta on both sides of the ball and is a tough blocker after having played linebacker during the 2019 season.
Allegeier’s focus remains at running back but having versatility is a huge upside for him as the Falcons favor those kinds of players on their 53-man roster.
