There have been a few consistent things for the Indianapolis Colts the last few seasons, primarily on the offensive side of the ball.

Jonathan Taylor rushed for over 1,500 yards and 2o total touchdowns, his second-best season in most metrics. Quenton Nelson is among one of the best offensive linemen in the league. The wide receiver group put up good numbers despite not having a franchise quarterback throwing the ball.

Indy has some core pieces for the next few seasons, but one key piece will be difficult to retain in the 2026 offseason.

Colts Offensive Weapon Urged To Leave

Alec Pierce had his best season as a professional in his fourth season in the NFL despite having multiple quarterbacks throwing in his direction.

The former Cincinnati Wildcat had his most receptions in a single season (47) and recorded his first 1,000+ yard season, while catching 6 touchdown passes.

Due to the uncertainty of who will be behind the center for the 2026 opener, the future of the wide receiver in Indy is questionable.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay urges the wide receiver to change scenery, noting that the player could become a star.

“Alec Pierce is hitting the open market at an opportune time,” Kay wrote. “Pierce was poised for a true breakout campaign with Daniel Jones at the reins this past season before a season-ending injury to the resurgent signal-caller limited the wide receiver’s production down the stretch.”

“While it would be unreasonable to expect that sort of consistent production, he clearly has the potential to remain a 1,000-plus-yard receiver in the coming years… If Pierce lands with a team that employs a strong-armed quarterback who doesn’t shy away from the deep ball and can leverage the wideout’s talent against single-high coverage, he’ll be in line for a monster 2026 season.”

Colts contributing writer, Amanda Foster, calls the player an “all-around receiver” after his development over the last few seasons.

Pierce recorded his best touchdown catch season in the head coach’s first year and has now registered his most receiving yards in one season.

The offensive weapon also led the Colts in receiver yards this season.

Ideal Landing Spot For Alec Pierce

Alex Kay didn’t drop any landing destinations where Alec Pierce could fit best, but if the wide receiver doesn’t want to deal with uncertainty at the quarterback position, as he has with the Indianapolis Colts, that could eliminate a few teams.

Pierce has had nine different quarterbacks in his four-year career and it would make sense that he would land somewhere with a long-term QB.

Daniel Jones could return to the Colts, but it depends on whether the team and the QB agree to a new contract for 2026 and the following seasons.

Pierce mentioned that if the Colts were to bring Jones back, it would be a big help in the wide receivers’ decision to remain in Indianapolis.

Jones has suffered a fractured leg and a torn Achilles tendon that ended his season, but he was on track to have his best season in almost all major metrics.

If the QB were to stay and continue to build chemistry with Pierce, they would be among the best QB-WR duos in the league.
