The Las Vegas Raiders have been dealt concerning news regarding one of the head coach candidates: Davis Webb. On Jan. 27, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the latest regarding the future of the Denver Broncos‘ offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

“After Broncos passing game coordinator and QB coach Davis Webb interviewed this week for the Raiders and [Buffalo] Bills head coaching jobs, he received interview requests for offensive coordinator jobs with the [Philadelphia] Eagles, [New York] Giants, and [Baltimore] Ravens,” Schefter wrote on X.

This news about Webb follows the latest update on the Raiders’ head coach search. On Jan. 27, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that the front office is still far from settling on a candidate.

“The Las Vegas Raiders are still planning on another interview with a candidate this week,” Russini wrote on X. “They have yet to make a decision at head coach.”

Can Next Las Vegas HC Get the Most Out of Ashton Jeanty

No matter who the Raiders pick, the new head coach will have to rebuild from scratch. Still, Las Vegas has some pieces to build around, including Ashton Jeanty.

Former NFL running back Maurice Jones-Drew also offered his thoughts on how the Raiders should use Jeanty next season.

“You have to find a way to find a coach that’s creative enough to get him in space and to get him running like Christian McCaffrey does, like Kyle Shannon does with Christian McCaffrey,” Jones-Drew said on the Jan. 23 edition of “89 with Steve Smith and James Palmer.”

“So to me, that type of offense with that type of usage where he’s up at wide receiver, he’s in the backfield, he’s motioning, all this creativity stuff. Oh, he would excel in that.”

Jeanty faced plenty of challenges in the 2025 NFL season, dealing with a shaky offensive line and inconsistent offensive coaching. Even so, he still managed 1,321 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns, according to StatMuse.

If he could surpass 1,000 yards under those conditions, just imagine what Jeanty could achieve with a stronger offensive line and a play caller who lets him stay in his preferred stance.

Raiders Next HC Will Have Money to Spend

Moreover, the Raiders’ next head coach will be taking over a team that has the second-most cap space behind the Tennessee Titans heading into free agency, per Over the Cap. As a result, the Silver and Black could plug a few weaknesses by going this route.

As a result, the Silver and Black could plug a few weaknesses by going this route. One problem for the Raiders’ defense is the absence of a partner alongside Maxx Crosby to consistently pressure opposing quarterbacks. In free agency, Trey Hendrickson could fill that role if Las Vegas is willing to spend to bring him in.

Still, former Raiders offensive lineman Lincoln Kennedy says the team has multiple other roster weaknesses that should be addressed before focusing on adding another edge rusher.

“As much as I like Hendrickson as a player, I don’t think the Raiders need to go there,” Kennedy said on the Jan. 26 edition of the “Raiders Squad Show.” “They’ve got other things that they need to address with the money… I think they need help at linebacker. I understand what they’re trying to do with this defense.

“Of course, you want to give a Robin to your Batman with Maxx Crosby. But right now, there are so many things that are glaring to me that you cannot ignore, most definitely the offensive line, possibly the wide receiver in the secondary and stuff like that, that I would go to before I go to defensive line.”
