Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse have drawn increased attention during the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina after making history as the first United States mixed doubles curling team to reach the playoff round.

Their success on the ice has prompted questions about their relationship away from competition, but the answer is clear: the Olympic partners are not romantically involved.

Both Dropkin and Thiesse have established personal relationships outside of curling, and their partnership remains strictly professional as they continue their historic Olympic run for Team USA.

Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin Relationship Status Explained

Despite their chemistry on the ice, Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin are not dating.

Thiesse married her husband, Sam Thiesse, in June 2022 after the couple became engaged in February 2021. Sam works as a financial advisor for Morgan Stanley in Duluth, Minnesota. The pair have largely kept their relationship private while Thiesse has continued competing at the highest levels of curling.

Dropkin is also in a committed relationship and is engaged to Gabby Tachis. He proposed in June 2025 and shared the news publicly on Instagram.

“Thirty and engaged — what a week!” Dropkin wrote at the time. “Grateful for all the love, messages, and memories. Feeling lucky to celebrate this milestone with the people I love.”

Later in 2025, Dropkin posted additional photos celebrating Tachis’ birthday, writing, “A weekend of celebrating you. ❤️”

While the exact start of their relationship is unclear, Dropkin first appeared to share photos of Tachis on social media in October 2023.

Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse Make Olympic History in Mixed Doubles Curling

Dropkin and Thiesse entered the 2026 Winter Olympics as one of Team USA’s strongest medal contenders in curling and delivered a breakthrough performance in group play.

The American duo opened competition with four straight wins before suffering their first loss to Great Britain. Facing elimination pressure, they rebounded with a critical win over Sweden to clinch a spot in the semifinals, marking the deepest Olympic run ever by a U.S. mixed doubles curling team.

The defining moment came in the eighth end against Sweden with the score tied. Dropkin executed a triple takeout, clearing three Swedish stones from the house and setting up the winning end.

With the victory, Team USA moved to 6–2 in group play with one match remaining.

What’s Next for Team USA in Olympic Mixed Doubles Curling

Dropkin and Thiesse will face Italy in their final group-stage match. A win would secure the No. 2 seed in the medal rounds, while a loss would drop the Americans to the No. 3 seed and potentially set up a rematch later in the day.

Both semifinal matches are scheduled for noon ET on Monday, with the gold medal game set for Tuesday at noon.

As the Olympics continue, Dropkin and Thiesse remain focused on competition, maintaining a professional partnership that has already rewritten the history books for U.S. curling.
