The wife of the late hockey player Johnny Gaudreau, Meredith Gaudreau, was seen with the couple’s three children at the historic final matchup between the USA and Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. After Team USA won the gold medal with an overtime goal by star player Jack Hughes, Meredith Gaudreau passed her children to players on the ice who took photographs with her daughter and the eldest of her two young sons alongside a jersey paying tribute to her late husband.
Johnny Gaudreau was tragically killed at the age of 31 alongside his brother, Matthew Gaudreau, aged 29 at the time, when both were cycling on the eve of their sister’s wedding in New Jersey. An SUV struck both Gaudreau brothers and ended their lives short. However, Johnny Gaudreau’s legacy is far from over and Meredith Gaudreau, their children, and Team USA are helping to keep that a reality.

Following Team USA’s 2-1 win over Canada, Meredith Gaudreau took to her Instagram account and wrote numerous messages of heartfelt thanks and appreciation for Team USA, Johnny’s family members, and the public who celebrated Johnny’s life and legacy with the team after the game. She Gave a Special Shoutout to Her In-Laws at the Game

Of all of the messages Meredith Gaudreau posted after the game, none was more emotional than the sentiment she penned about her in-laws and the grandparents of her children who were seen holding the young toddlers in the stands of the Olympic stadium. On her Instagram story, Gaudreau writes, “So proud of my mother in law. Both her and pop pop my rock this weekend. Even when it’s incredibly hard for them.”
The messages of gratitude and appreciation written by Meredith Gaudreau accompany several photographs of Team USA posing with her daughter, Noa, and son, Johnny Jr. She also includes a video of Team USA fans conducting a synchronized ‘Johnny Hockey’ chant during the game in honor of her late husband’s nickname on the ice.
