Are Team USA hockey's Clayton Keller and Megan Keller married or related? Here's the deal with these two skaters.

Sure, Jack and Quinn Hughes of Team USA hockey are related, but what about some of the others? The men’s hockey team is at center stage on Sunday, February 22, as the team takes on Canada in pursuit of a gold medal.

One of the other stars on the ice during the 2026 Winter Olympics is American ice hockey forward Clayton Keller. Outside of the Olympics, Keller is a forward and captain for the Utah Mammoth of the National Hockey League. On the ice, he’s been instrumental in getting Team USA men’s hockey team to the final game.

But, viewers are noticing that there’s another Keller on the ice at the 2026 Winter Olympics: Megan Keller. She helped take the women’s team to a gold medal, and outside of the Olympics, she’s the captain for the Boston Fleet of the Professional Women’s Hockey League. So, are these two related or married?

Team USA Hockey: Clayton Keller and Megan Keller

Megan Keller, of course, became a household name after she scored the game-winning goal in Team USA women’s hockey vs. Canada on Friday, February 20. The game went into overtime, and it was a heated matchup, so to see Megan put in that final score and get America the win was exciting for those in the U.S.

There’s another Keller on the ice for the men’s team, and that’s Clayton Keller.

As it turns out, the name is just a coincidence. They both have the same last name, and they’re both professional hockey players, but they’re not related or married. Megan hails from Farmington Hills, Michigan, while Clayton is from Missouri and was raised in Illinois.

So, while Jack and Quinn Hughes are related and are brothers, the Keller’s are not related.

Praise for Team USA Women’s Hockey Player Megan Keller After Gold Win

After the women’s win on the ice, Megan’s teammates praised her game-winning goal.

“If you had to play against her and practice against her, Megan Keller can really do it all,” veteran defenseman Lee Stecklein said, according to ESPN. “To see that move under pressure like that, just incredible.”

According to her official Team USA bio, Megan began skating at age three and only wanted to take skating lessons if she was allowed to wear hockey gear. She skated and competed in youth hockey as a child and started her amateur career on the ice at Boston College, where she played four seasons and set several program records. She made her first Olympic team at the Pyeongchang Games in 2018.

“I’m lost for words,” Keller told reporters after winning the gold medal in 2026. “This is an incredible feeling. I love these girls so much. This group deserves it. Just the effort and the faith that we kept through this four-year journey is something very special.”

She added, “We worked so hard for the past four years. We love each other in that locker room. Just a really special group and just couldn’t be happier for us.”

It was Hilary Knight’s last Olympics, and she gave respect to Megan after the game. “Utmost respect for her,” Knight said. “I think you saw that going through the handshake line, just embracing and understanding we have so many things in common. The only difference is we’re on the other side of these teams and some legendary performances. I’ll miss it.”
