Condon responded with: “I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life onscreen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book, and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience.”
Even the author of the Twilight series Stephenie Meyer appears excited about the decision: “I’m so thrilled the Bill wants to work with us. I think he’s going to be a great fit, and I’m excited to see what he does with the material.”
Other directorial contenders Sophia Coppola, M. Night Shyamalan, Stephen Daldry and Gus Van Sant have been left out, but the interesting part is that Condon now has three films in pre-production. Van Sant has one film in post-production, Shyamalan has two films in post-production (one being Last Airbender), Coppola just completed one film and Daldry isn’t working on anything. So it seems like the moral of the story is in order to stay busy, you have to already be busy. Just look at J.J. Abrams.
