Gere and Lowell have come to enjoy different things, living almost separate lives anyway. An insider told Page Six that:

They have a place in Bedford [NY], and he likes it because it’s quiet and he likes the solitude. She likes being in North Haven in the limelight.

Another source says the couple has drifted into different lifestyles because Gere is a Buddhist who craves privacy and Lowell likes socializing with other “bigwigs.”

3. Gere and Lowell Have Actually Been Together for 17 Years

The couple has been married for 11 years, but Richard Gere actually dated Lowell for 7 years before tying the knot. They have one son together.
